The Detroit City Council has voted in favor of placing an additional tax on bullets.
“This is the city of Detroit, we continue to beat Los Angeles every year with the number of homicides, in senseless gun violence,” said Wayne County Commissioner Reggie Davis.
Davis calls his resolution "the bullet bill." The resolution requires a mental health background on purchasers of ammunition in Wayne County, and also limits the purchase of bullets in the county. It also puts a tax on the sales of bullets.
“It has to stop somewhere and I feel this is a means to an end and that’s what this whole bullet bill agenda is all about," Davis said, adding that he knows all too well about gun violence.

Second Amendment advocates from one coast to the other should be paying close attention to what is happening in Washington state, which has become a test tube for anti-gunners now laying the framework to dismantle state preemption statutes and ban semiautomatic firearms, and it can be traced to King County, where the Board of Health recently adopted a regulation in clear defiance of the state’s 35-year-old preemption law.

A gun-rights group challenging a New Jersey law that lowers the number of bullets a gun can hold argued Tuesday that American homeowners want weapons with more capacity. The law passed in June limits state gun owners to magazines that hold 10 rounds of ammunition instead of the 15-round limit in place since 1990.

Will there ever be a solution to the firearms violence that has swept our country in recent years? Thousands of scholars, police, legislators and ordinary citizens have been working on ideas to reduce gun violence. But I don’t hear of many persons betting their grocery money on when the shootings will stop or even diminish. |

Throughout World War II, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill reminded his countrymen that they could not, through their endeavors alone, guarantee victory. “All we can do is deserve it,” he said. The same is true of President Trump and the Republican Party in 2020. The economy, the media, the Democrats, and countless other factors beyond any conservative’s control will factor into the election two years from now. Ultimately, it’s up the voters. All the president and his party in Congress can do between now and then is make the best argument for why they, and not the Left, should prevail on election day. |

There are two ugly and stupid lines of “thought” — it is generosity to call this that — in American politics that are inseverable, each being the inverted form of the other: the proposition that black Americans are held hostage on a Democrat-run “plantation” where they exchange their moral and political autonomy for a pittance in welfare benefits, and the proposition that white voters — especially the poor, exurban, God-haunted ones — are too distracted by racial bigotry and homosexual terror to understand that they are “voting against their own interests.” |

Well, you passed new restrictions on guns and those who own them. Aren’t you proud? Did your new laws help the twenty-nine year old woman that was beaten to death on Sunday? Perhaps the thought just crossed your mind that this was just one person and not as bad as a mass shooting. If it did, shame on you. |

A Nov. 12 explosion in the testing tunnel at state-owned Cugir Arms Factory in Romania could negatively impact the availability of WASR rifles and Draco pistols available through Florida-based Century Arms—a stateside importer of classic firearms and manufacturer of AKs here in the United States. The Washington Post reported a 50-year-old woman was killed in the blast, and it took two hours for first responders to extinguish the resulting blaze. |

One of a handful of companies competing for the Army’s sub gun contract has released a submission that it says meets the requirements for the first-in-a generation type of gun program. Angstadt Arms recently posted a statement on its website, subsequently reported by The Firearm Blog, that the company is vying for the contract with its SCW-9, which includes a collapsible PDW-style stock and accepts Glock 9mm magazines. |
