A Long Island man is amazingly expected to make a full recovery after his attempted murderer shot at him eight times Sunday afternoon.
Nassau County police say 36-year-old Richard Davidson, of Albermarle Road in Brooklyn, and the 43-year-old victim got into an argument in front of 40 Lois Place in Valley Stream at about 12:55 p.m. Sunday.
Armed with a handgun, Davidson shot at the victim a total of eight times, even as the victim was trying to seek shelter inside the Lois Place building.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was shot six times in his legs and twice in his shoulders. He was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Cops describe his injuries as non-life-threatening.

"A web page headlined by radio personalities Dennis & Michele on New Jersey 101.5 FM Radio has posted an appeal to Gov. Chris Christie to grant clemency to gun owner Brian Aitken, who was imprisoned for gun possession while moving between residences—something supposedly legal under both federal and New Jersey laws."

NJ: SAF Sues N.J. Officials for 'Deprivation of Civil Rights' on Permit Denials

SAF today filed suit in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey against several New Jersey officials for deprivation of civil rights under color of law.

“Law-abiding New Jersey citizens have been arbitrarily deprived of their ability to defend themselves and their families for years under the state’s horribly-crafted laws."

“Supreme Court rulings have made it clear that the Second Amendment prohibits states from completely banning the carrying of handguns for self-defense. Nor may states deny citizens the right to carry handguns in non-sensitive places or deprive them of the right to carry in an arbitrary and capricious manner. That’s what is happening today in New Jersey, and we intend to stop it.”

Candice Hermeler remained in serious condition at an Englewood hospital Sunday, as her family from Australia remained at her side, authorities said.
A victim's advocate met with the family to offer them help in the aftermath of Candice's attempted suicide Monday in a double-suicide pact that claimed the life of twin Kristin Hermeler.
Candice, 29, survived a gunshot to the center of her forehead as the women turned their rented pistols on themselves. Candice told investigators Thursday that she and her sister planned to kill themselves at the Family Shooting Center gun range at Cherry Creek State Park.
She grew angry and distraught in the two-hour bedside interview and refused to say why they wanted to die.

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a column offering firearm recommendations. Some of my readers are getting so mad and whining so badly they sound like unarmed liberals. So I’ve written today’s column in an effort to appease them. Actually, I’ve written today’s column in order to fire off a few hints at those who intend to buy me Christmas presents.

S ocia lists, from President Obama on down, look at the government as the creator and administrator of rights. That is why even some on the left liked the Heller and the McDonald decisions which overturned gun bans in Washington, DC and Chicago.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic that the Supreme Court ruled against these the gun bans in these two cities. And I’d rather be in our shoes today than in the Brady Campaign’s -- as they saw their arguments slapped down harshly by the court.

Wain Ashley did something this year he had never done before.

“Never bought a handgun, never felt the need,” Ashley said.

Until now. He was concerned about his wife, Barbara, being safe at her job as a realtor. So Wain bought two handguns, one for her and one for him.

However, they never even had a chance to take a course on proper gun usage before the guns were stolen from their home.

Gov. Rendell could soon have the legal right to arm himself, stand outside the Capitol building, and start shooting approaching lawmakers.

Of course he shouldn't . . . but he could, if he signed a ridiculous gun bill that landed on his desk last week.

It happened in North Baltimore during the middle of the day

Career criminal Edward Capers busted in through the victims front door and held the woman at gun point, but what he didn't count on was the couple fighting back stabbing him with a screw driver, beating him with a golf club and pinning him until police arrived.

This night -- a September 14, 2010, potluck in the oversized metal shed that is the fairground's main hall -- is special because there is a high-profile guest: Larry Pratt, leader of Gun Owners of America.

Pratt, like a lot of Celebrating Conservatism's speakers, has a long history with the far right. He is considered a godfather of the militia movement, a network of conspiracy-minded, armed paramilitary groups that exploded in the 1990s.

The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) announced today that it has joined in a federal lawsuit challenging a provision of New Jersey law that effectively denies law-abiding citizens the civil right to defend themselves with a firearm outside the home.

The suit, brought together with The Second Amendment Foundation and six private citizens, challenges the constitutionality of New Jersey's extreme and subjective "justifiable need" standard for issuance of handgun carry permits – a nearly impossible standard to meet that has all but eliminated the right of self defense with a firearm in the Garden State.

If there’s anything that makes a concealed carry permit holder upset, its criminal safezones.

A criminal safezone is where only criminals are safe, because armed self defense is banned. That’s why the National Association for Gun Rights has filed a lawsuit against the United State Postal Service.

The U.S. Postal Service uses bureaucratic rules to ban your right to carry in a Post Office, and that’s important, even if you don’t carry concealed –- it’s the camel’s nose under the tent.

You see, the U.S. Postal Service claims citizens don’t have the right to self defense in Post Offices.

...Holda pointed to the Luby’s massacre, telling a local TV station, “[During the Luby’s massacre] you had multiple shooters, and innocent people were killed by other people who had concealed, licensed handguns, because they weren’t sure who was the shooter and who was a defender.”

Holda’s frightening depiction ... suffers from only one flaw: It is a complete and total fabrication.... The State of Texas did not begin issuing or honoring concealed handgun licenses until 1996, five years after the Luby’s massacre. At the time of the shooting, state law made it a serious crime for anyone other than a law enforcement officer to carry a handgun. All of the victims (23 killed, 20 wounded) were shot by the lone gunman himself.

With sweeping Republican victories all across Wisconsin, our chance to seize the moment for concealed carry is now.

On Nov. 2, State Republicans clinched the “Super Trifecta” by winning majorities in the Wisconsin House, Senate and the Governor’s seat.

We now have every opportunity in the world to restore our right to carry. But there’s one problem. Without intense grassroots pressure, these politicians will sell you out and won’t lift a finger to fight on your behalf.
