... "Attacks by roving flocks of wild turkeys are on the increase around suburban Boston--AP" ...
"... Boston is now a place where traditions have been betrayed. Its current overlords have succeeded in disarming the whole people in a way that General Gage could never have conceived possible."
"So successful have these rulers been that the city that gave us Sam Adams and Paul Revere is now a city under siege, and this is fittingly ironic if you think about it, by wild turkeys. So helpless and hapless are Boston's modern-day patriots, they can do little except retreat from the aggressive gobblers, escape, hole up and plead for rescue from the very authorities that enforce public impotence." ... |

"Reader Don writes:I really enjoy reading your reviews and you actually inspired me to try a 3 gun competition at my local range. Even after negotiating through my California bullet button and 10 round mags on my AR, I still have a blast and plan to compete again this month. At the competition, each paper target required two shots. One thing that was obvious is that many guys were able to get that second shot off much faster than I was. Initially I attributed to me having iron (actually plastic magpul) sights on my AR while most of them had red dots. After talking to the other shooters and and them observing them shooting, it looks like the muzzle breaks make a big difference as well (my AR has the stock A2 flash hider). ..." ... |

"I recently finished reading Shooters: Myths and Realities of America’s Gun Cultures by Abigail A. Kohn. In the book’s first chapter, Kohn describes her methodology: 'In the fall of 1997 . . . I set out to conduct an anthropological study of gun enthusiasm. To collect data, I used the traditional anthropological method of participant observation, which basically entails joining the designated group in question, making friends with its members, observing and participating in community events, and engaging in group activities with the community . . ." ... |

"In the immediate aftermath of a particularly grisly presidential election season - one that saw red and blue states bloodied and battered in the process - you’ll be glad to hear Hollywood thinks they’ve found a potent healing balm. They’ve determined what this country really needs to restore our faith in one another is a good ol’ jingo party beat-down flick, even if it’s in the form of a remake of Red Dawn, a John Milius piece of claptrap from 1984."
"The basic premise concerns an invasion of a foreign army into the stately Washington city of Spokane, and the group of young people who escape and raise havoc for the invading army with a ragtag guerrilla force known as the 'Wolverines.'" ... |

"Sometimes I want to take gun control advocates by their proverbial lapels and shake them (metaphorically speaking). 'It’s a gun people! It’s only a gun!' An invention that’s over a thousand years old. A method of personal defense (and yes, offense) that was fully democratized by Samuel Colt in the 1840′s. You’d think that we’d all be comfortable with guns by now. But no; the struggle to protect our firearms-enabled right to self-defense continues. ..." |

"... You said, 'These people love the Constitution.' They love the Second Amendment and the Tenth Amendment. They’re the only two amendments these people even know. I’m sure none of them has ever even read the Constitution, or you would know that there is no constitutional right to succeeded from the union." ... -------
Submitter's Note: Actually I'm pretty fond of the First and Fourth amendments too (freedom of speech, religion, assembly, press, search & seizure in case you were wondering).
Come to think of it I like the Fifth amendment too (grand jury, double jeopardy, self-incrimination and the takings clause).
Of course speedy trials with juries and assistance of counsel (6th amendment) are good too.
Heck, I like 'em all! |
