A date circled in red by several hundred thousand West Virginians is finally here. Gun buck season opened Monday and lasts through Dec. 5. The season traditionally opens on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Hunters can harvest two deer on the same day, but only one can be an antlered buck. Anyone who wants an extra buck must buy a stamp from the state and have additional licensing.

The first of Iowa’s two shotgun deer seasons begins Dec. 4, when an expected 55,000 to 60,000 blaze orange clad hunters head to the timber for the annual late fall tradition. The good news is that Iowa’s deer population is similar to last year statewide, and is continuing its slow upward trend in northcentral and northwest Iowa that has been a goal of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) since 2014.

The National Rifle Association has notched a big milestone: its 150th anniversary. "For 150 years, millions of Americans from all walks of life, races, colors, and creeds have been proud members of the National Rifle Association of America. From Presidents of the United States, military heroes, those with household names to rank and file Americans like us, all have entrusted the NRA to be the guardians of their Second Amendment, their self-defense and hunting rights, and indeed their freedom as Americans," NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre exclusively told Fox News.

A group of House Republicans is warning that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) could be laying the groundwork for a backdoor federal gun registry. Republican Rep. Michael Cloud of Texas led 51 of his colleagues in a letter to acting ATF Director Marvin Richardson on Monday, expressing their concern over a proposed rule by the agency that Republicans fear could eventually lead to a backdoor gun registry around Congress’ prohibition. |

Cabot Guns’ lineup of investment-grade custom M1911s are as well-known for its extremely tight tolerances and superb mechanical accuracy (capable of 1.5" or smaller groups at 25 yards), as they are for their exquisite presentations and exotic construction materials. The National Standard fits right in as a recent addition to the family. Collectors of M1911 recreations look to Cabot for its bespoke craftsmanship and pure American-made guns, “right down to the pins, springs and grip-screw bushings.” The Pennsylvania-based gunmaker manufactures its National Standard from American-sourced steel—416 stainless steel billets are the foundation for this latest Cabot creation. |

Every year, thousands of hunters purchase their first muzzleloading guns. Some of these folks have used blackpowder guns in the past by borrowing them from friends. The vast majority, however, have no actual experience with “front-stuffers.” Assuming you might be one of these thousands, or know someone who is, here are few invaluable tips for finding your first. |

An innocent post on Facebook noting the date—November 22, 1963—and asking people if they remember, and where they were, is getting a stunning reaction, as at least two articles published Monday still seek answers about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Tex.
Some weren’t even born, but most others recall the day with details about how they found out from teachers or school officials. |

Beto O’Rourke suggested during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union that the Kyle Rittenhouse saga “makes the case” against AR-15 ownership. Host Dana Bash asked O’Rourke to give his take on the Rittenhouse “not guilty” verdict. O’Rourke answered: "This entire tragedy makes the case that we should not allow our fellow Americans to own and use weapons that were originally designed for battlefield use. That AR-15, that AK-47, has one single, solitary purpose, and that is killing people as effectively, as efficiently, and in as great a number in as little time as possible."

The American left’s determination to conduct a media-inspired political trial of Kyle Rittenhouse had as its objective the ultimate disarming of Americans and the elimination of the Second Amendment. While Kyle Rittenhouse was listed as the defendant, it was the right of self-defense that was on trial. To what extent does man have a natural or God-given right to self-defense and protection of himself and his property? This question has been bandied about for thousands of years and that issue, not guns (which are an instrument of self-defense), is at the heart of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Everyone’s least favorite adrift office seeker is back in the national spotlight. On November 15, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke announced his candidacy for Texas governor. Should the work-shy politico secure the Democratic nomination, it would likely set up a 2022 showdown with two-term Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R). In 2018, the perennial candidate failed in an attempt to unseat U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas). In 2019, Beto ran for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination and dropped out before securing a single delegate. Gun owners are most familiar with Beto for his flamboyant support for gun confiscation.

This month, a federal district court in Wisconsin dismissed a lawsuit against Armslist, the operator of an online marketplace for firearms, arising out of its role in allegedly facilitating or enabling the sale of a handgun that was later used by a prohibited person in a crime. The plaintiff, Richard Webber, on behalf of the estate of Sara Schmidt and supported by the gun control group Brady, sued Armslist and its co-founder, Jonathan Gibbon. |

A protest against the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse had security provided by a surprising duo. Several dozen people traced the route that Rittenhouse took when he shot and killed two people in August of 2020. Two of those participants were Erick and Jade Jordan, a father and daughter who carried rifles in the crowd of protesters. If a number of politicians who are hostile to the Second Amendment get their way, American banks will essentially begin spying on American citizens who buy guns and/or ammunition. And if those citizens are buying what the politicians consider to be too much ammunition or too many firearms, those very citizens could be labeled potential domestic terrorists. Recently, U.S. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.) introduced companion bills titled “Gun Violence Prevention Through Financial Intelligence Act.”

There are many great debates that grace the display cases of gun stores and internet forums about which personal defense ammo or firearm is superior…1911 vs Glock, AR-15 vs AK-47, 30-06 Springfield vs 308 Winchester, and 9mm vs 40 Smith and Wesson to name a few.
And although proponents of certain firearms/cartridges are often very stalwart in their positions, there are none that are so unrelenting, tenacious, and resolute in their position than those in the 9mm vs 45 ACP caliber debate. |

Images from Vietnam of filthy bush-savvy snipers crawling out of the jungle with their scoped M14 rifles made a deep impression on this young stud. When I came of age I built up one of my own. |
