... "The exact nature of the easing of restrictions has not been specified, but 'the security minister suggested the rules would relax carrying restrictions for private security guards and off-duty army officers,' WSJ continued. That confirms the discussion is focusing on the 'Only Ones,' and private citizens will still be relegated to either second-class status or else be forced to make a choice that could bring criminal charges. 'In Israel, carrying a gun is not a right granted by the constitution, but rather a privilege given to those few who pass background checks and who can demonstrate a real need for possessing firearms.'" ... |

"We have discussed recently the Washington State ballot initiative, successful in the recent election, that will outlaw all private sales of firearms (because a sale in which the prospective buyer's criminal history--and increasingly even medical history--is first combed through by the FBI, is anything but 'private'). That discussion was about the threat posed by this new approach by the gun ban zealots--using a lavishly funded media blitz to dupe low information voters into passing oppressive 'gun control' ballot initiatives. A very useful breakdown of the future of that threat in other states can be found here, by the way." ... |

"Readers can thank Judicial Watch for prying the latest embarrassing documents out of the Obama administration, as part of its effort to uncover the full story behind Operation Fast & Furious. Last night’s document dump deals with a related matter — the attempt to keep the media at bay and spin the news to the best advantage of Barack Obama and outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder. The DoJ provided another set of documents, totaling more than 42,000 pages, under court order to JW on November 18th, and they make it clear that the White House took it upon themselves to pressure CBS into silencing Sharyl Attkisson:" ... |

More American homes have guns than dogs, and nearly 1,500 children younger than 18 years of age die from shootings every year. ... Of course, it is important to educate children on what to do when they come across dangerous situations, such as unsupervised firearms. But why put the blame and pressure on children to handle dangerous firearms correctly?' Wait, does your head hurt after reading that, too? Good, I thought it was only me. "... The Second Amendment, expressing the right to bear arms is a very controversial topic. Though it is a topic of great controversy, there is a simple solution: stricter gun control. Gun control laws should be more strict because it will decrease the death toll, decrease gun violence, and will prevent criminals from obtaining guns."

This is no longer the case since the law was weakened by a split 9th U.S.Circuit Court of Appeals decision. QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
You are bound to meet misfortune if you are unarmed because, among other reasons, people despise you....There is simply no comparison between a man who is armed and one who is not. It is unreasonable to expect that an armed man should obey one who is unarmed, or that an unarmed man should remain safe and secure when his servants are armed. In the latter case, there will be suspicion on the one hand and contempt on the other, making cooperation impossible. — Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince." |
