New York City is proposing a new study that would extensively research how illegal guns find their way into the hands of violent criminals in the five boroughs.
The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice and the New York Police Department have proposed partnering with Rutgers University’s School of Criminal Justice on an 18-month, $500,000 contract to study exactly how illegal guns enter neighborhoods in New York City, specifically in the Bronx and Brooklyn. |

Right-wing groups say that having good guys own and carry guns protects them from bad people. That is false.
On an average day, 85 Americans die and more than 200 are rushed to the emergency room due to gun violence. An average week brings one shooting at a school and one shooting by a toddler. The implicit or explicit threat of gun violence has intimidated African American students at the University of Missouri, legislators, active citizens, mothers, black churchgoers and Muslim community members. |

A Democratic state Senator hopes to repeal Michigan’s “stand-your-ground” law.
Under that law, a person can use deadly force against someone else with no requirement to retreat. That’s as long as the person isn’t engaged in a crime, is somewhere they’re legally allowed to be, and feels deadly force is the only way to defend themselves.

Having overwhelmingly lost the public debate about whether the Obama administration’s Syrian refugee screening policy should be enhanced, Democrats have retreated to more comfortable rhetorical ground: demanding more gun control.
Their new secret weapon? A bill that would ban anyone whose name appears on a terror watch list from buying or possessing a firearm. The idea sounds reasonable enough until you dig into the details and realize that the proposed Democratic legislation is a shocking assault on the constitutional right to due process.

Bucking our society’s leftward lurch has been public opinion on two issues, pre-natal infanticide and Second Amendment-protected rights. In fact, leftists were very quiet on gun control for a long time after some analysts attributed former vice president Al Gore’s 2000 election loss to advocacy of the position.

Mechanical engineering student James Patrick recently uploaded a video to his YouTube channel showing off the fully functional PM522 Washbear .22LR revolver that he designed and 3D printed. With the exception of the firing pin, a few elastic bands that act as springs and the legally required amount of detectable metal, the entire gun including the body and cylinder is completely 3D printed. This is, to my knowledge, the very first functional repeating firearm
