There has been quite a bit of special activity at the Gunsite Academy, near Paulden, Ariz., this year. Gunsite has been celebrating its 40th year of service to American gun owners. The academy was established in 1976 as the American Pistol Institute on property owned by Jeff and Janelle Cooper, with the land, itself, being called Gunsite. Now called The Gunsite Academy, it is the oldest defensive academy in the world that is open to private citizens and is the living legacy of Col. Jeff Cooper. |

Texas State Rep. Jonathan Stickland prefiled Constitutional Carry Nov. 16, a bill that would remove the requirement to obtain a government-issued permit in order to carry a concealed firearm for self-defense in Texas. If passed, Texas would be the 11th state to remove this government mandate.
Under current law, openly carrying a firearm in Texas does require a permit. Constitutional Carry would not remove the existing permit process for those who seek reciprocity with neighboring states; however, it would remove the requirement to obtain the permit when carrying in Texas.

Due to the seemingly unending trend of semi-auto pistols getting lighter and more streamlined with the popular use of synthetic-frame materials and striker-fired ignition systems, many of today’s offerings are built leaner, lighter and more compact. They offer enhanced concealment for longer periods, without sacrificing comfort. Importer FIME Group, however, is the latest to buck the compact composite craze with its alloy-framed Arex Rex Zero 1S, though at first glance it may look slightly familiar. |

How are rights lost? As a rule, the answer is, “In much the same manner as they are won.” Rarely do free societies abandon their liberties in a swoop. Instead, they let them go over time—slowly, subtly, even imperceptibly. Whatever the movies might imply, it is complacency—not shock—that marks the disintegration of once-cherished freedoms. With exquisite precision, the walls are dismantled piece by piece, so that by the time the final brick is removed, there is little surprise to accompany the milestone. |

There is nothing good about RAWA -- it violates just about every core conservative principle there is. It bullies the state. It opens the door to Internet regulation. It even threatens the Second Amendment by creating a precedent that the federal government can ban Internet sales of ammunition, no matter what state laws say. RAWA’s apologists claim that this bill is necessary to prevent money laundering that fuels terrorism networks. Any counter-terrorism or counterintelligence operative would tell you that these concerns are hogwash. |

Gun shows still have a future at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The board of the 22nd District Agricultural Association, which runs the state-owned Del Mar Fairgrounds, discussed the Crossroads of the West Gun Show and heard from both supporters and opponents at the Nov. 15 board meeting.
About two dozen people spoke before the board to plead their stance on gun shows. |

Right now it looks like the second camp is winning the internal fight over the future of the party. Nancy Pelosi claims to have the votes to head off a challenge to her position as House Minority Leader, and the leading candidate to head up the DNC is Rep. Keith Ellison, a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and an ardent anti-gun politician. Ellison supported virtually every gun control bill brought up by Democrats over the past eight years, and also took part in the “sit-in” stunt promoting gun control in the House earlier this year. |

I have made it clear that we deserve a break. We need a vacation. We’ve earned it, all of us and it would do us well to relax after this long and arduous struggle for freedom. We have the luxury of a couple of months to do just that. We have the ball, and we can call a timeout. Enjoy the holidays, get our heads out of the media for a few weeks, regroup and re-energize returning once again to the field of battle with a renewed sense of purpose.
No longer on defense, we will begin aggressively advancing our pro-rights agenda forward. National reciprocity, ending gun-free zones and starting the long task of redoubling our efforts in courtrooms across the nation, restoring rights and freedoms in the judiciary. |

Using LexPredict's FantasySCOTUS, a Supreme Court prediction market I created in 2009, I surveyed more than a hundred Federalist Society lawyers about who they think President Trump will nominate. (USA Today has already featured our odds). As they swiped their favorite candidate on my iPad, each attorney explained the pros and cons of the short list. The results, which fall into three categories—the front runners, the Kennedy clerks, and the dark horses—provide insights into a process shrouded in secrecy. |

Over the course of five years and covering thousands of miles, I toured America to meet some of the millions of legal gun owners who, every day, proudly exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Excited by how limitless freedom can be when every man and woman is afforded their right to arm and protect themselves, I sought to produce a collection of photographs and words as unbiased and true to the diverse social fabric of American gun owners today. I strove to create a book that mirrors the exceptional beauty, pride and singularity of the greatest and most profound country on earth — the United States of America. |

A New Orleans man is suing the city over its ban on stun guns, claiming a local ordinance violates his Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. The suit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, comes as other states and cities debate legalizing Tasers and other electric shock devices used for self-defense.
Louisiana law permits the use of stun guns for self-defense without obtaining a permit. But local laws vary. New Orleans Municipal Code prohibits the sale, purchase, possession or use of stun guns as well as other devices such as blackjacks, metal knuckles and switchblades. |

South Dakota lawmakers will soon be considering permitless carry legislation, which gives them the opportunity to make their state the 13th to require no permit to carry a handgun for self-defense.
The legislation is being sponsored by state representative Lynne DiSanto (R-35th), who believes permitless carry allows Americans to carry arms “the way the Constitution intended.” |

2 teens charged in slaying of congressman’s grandson over shoes,” CBS News Crimesider reports. Unsurprisingly, it happened in Chicago. And just as unsurprisingly, the congressman, Rep. Danny Davis, put the blame on guns.
“Davis said it’s unfortunate the teens ‘would have access to a gun that could lead to that kind of mayhem’ and that he will ‘continue to work with those who are trying to get guns out of circulation,’” CBS dutifully repeats.
Think about what that means. And Davis has the track record to show that’s his goal. |

A good tip to survive a potentially heated Thanksgiving discussion, whether it’s about guns, politics, or your aunt Nancy’s hairstyle from 1982, is to acknowledge the honorable (but often misguided) place from which they get the drive to advance their agenda.

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan says AK-47s should be banned, background checks should be expanded, and the NRA’s concerns over certain politicians should not be believed.
McKagan expounded on his gun control positions in his inaugural column for Vice blog Noisey. The column focused on “things happening right now,” with the stated goal of bringing “a bunch of us back to a place where we can talk and hopefully—in a small way—start to make this country and world, a much better place for us all.” |

"It doesn't matter what the origins of the Second Amendment were," says Cody Wilson, creator of the first 3D-printed gun and author of the new book, Come and Take It: The Gun Printer's Guide to Thinking Free. "With the internet, we can transform this thing into right to resistance on a global scale. If it's just a fact that the government serves guns now, this is just a point of political life."
Reason TV visited Wilson at an Austin, Texas-based manufacturing facility of his company Defense Distributed to discuss his new memoir about the creation of first 3D-printed firearm, which he dubbed "The Liberator." |

In Colorado, can you own a gun if you use marijuana?
The feds say no. State law is silent. And updated language from the federal department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on its gun-transaction paperwork has people once again talking about the conflict between Colorado law and federal law.
This week, the ATF said it will issue a new form that gun buyers must fill out when purchasing a firearm.
The form, which takes effect Jan. 16, 2017, includes an added warning that reads: “The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.” |

Black Friday is only a few days away so it's time to start planning where you want to spend your Black Friday firearms dollars. There's been chatter that this year won't be another record-breaking one for retailers because there isn't a fear in the Second Amendment community of an anti-gun Democrat president. But even if you feel secure in your right to keep and bear arms, it's always good to stock up on firearms and ammunition, especially if you can find some good deals. Here are my 2016 picks from the big box retailers. |

However, Guinness turned over their glass and refused to accept the record.
Their statement:
Guinness World Records recently received an application from the National Rifle Association regarding an event that took place earlier this month at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
Guinness World Records does not monitor mass participation records that, each time the record is broken, increase the danger posed to the general public or environment. As the activity proposed by the NRA is not one we feel can be safely monitored on a global basis, we unfortunately are unable to recognize it as a record. |
