"It seems like every couple months, another report surfaces that tries to make the argument that the existence of a firearm in a home endangers the lives of children. The first one I debunked was a report from the New York Times published almost two years ago, and while the name of the organization publishing this 'shocking report' may be different, the facts of the matter remain the same. This time the Brady Campaign has published a report titled 'The Truth About Kids & Guns' that tries to make the same old arguments. While the numbers presented might be enough to shock low information voters into following the rallying cry for gun control the report basically debunks itself. Shall we begin? . . ." ... |

"The anti-gun crowd – Bloomberg, Obama, Feinstein, the Brady bunch, Watts and the rest, with the help of the liberal legacy media – should step up to the plate and take ownership of the results of their efforts in demonizing ‘the gun’ to the point where it is becoming culturally unacceptable and downright dangerous to even be associated with a gun – any gun – even toys, in public. That wasn’t always the case; it wasn’t until recent years that ‘guns’ have fallen into such widespread evil repute. By whipping up unwarranted hysteria at the mere sight of any sort a gun . . ." ... |

"Gun control advocates want to take your guns. They want to disarm you and millions of American gun owners. According to gun control advocates like The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, nonsense! Brady’s jefe Dan Gross and MDA doyenne of disarmament Shannon Watts constantly tell credulous journalists that they support the Second Amendment. Watts 'reveals' that her family served in the military and hunted – with guns! If you believe these anti-gun groups, they simply want to make it harder for criminals and crazies to get guns. Not you. It’s a propaganda technique Adolph Hitler christened 'die Große Lüge' (The Big Lie). ..." ... |

"For the second time this year, a self-identified Navy veteran yesterday proposed strict gun control measures including licensing, 80 hours of training for a concealed carry permit and an ammunition tax of ten cents per cartridge to pay for all of that, plus mental health screenings for gun owners every five years when their licenses are renewed."
"Shawn VanDiver, identified as 'a 12-year navy veteran and adjunct faculty at three universities ...' also wrote about gun control in May. At that time, VanDiver proposed, 'We should consider putting a cap on the number of firearms purchased for personal use. Allowances could be made for licensed gun dealers, but home protection and hunting don’t require individuals to keep an arsenal.'" ... |

"King Armory contacted TTAG and asked if we’d like to review their KA-1222A muzzle brake/flash hider. As there are just way too many options from way too many manufacturers to review them individually, the project quickly escalated into doing a bit of a “shootout” with muzzle devices from multiple companies. Hopefully we’ve achieved a decent mix of well-known units from well-known manufacturers as well as some from smaller shops that many folks may not be familiar with. Basically, the intention here is to highlight a variety of muzzle device options — we gathered 35! — state my blunt opinion on machining, fit/finish, and utility plus any items of note, along with relevant stats. ..." ... |

"What’s it like to not feel safe in your own home? How does it feel to risk your life every time you go outside? Should anyone have to ask themselves this? In an unproblematic world, no, but that is not our reality. Guns make it hard to feel safe and that is a problem. The way of battling this issue will never be easy, but we should at least try to be optimistic. Guns need to be controlled because they are problematic, very harmful, and in the hands of many who should not have them."
"Guns are very problematic. Since there are many more guns available than we actually need, they seem a bit unnecessary. ..." ... |

"A gun is either on your hip or in a safe. That’s the advice this website gives gun owners to prevent potentially tragic unauthorized access. Like all safety rules, that one has a bunch of caveats. For example, a gun on your hip is better than a gun in a safe if you need it quickly. And never assume that a gun in a safe prevents unauthorized access; teach all children firearms safety. So when I read [via daytondailynews.com] that Sidney City, Ohio schools has 'placed 30 loaded hand guns strategically around its seven school buildings in a locked in a box that can only be opened by a fingerprint' I thought . . ." ... |

"As a conservative libertarian liberal retired law enforcement officer, I feel the need to address numerous points in Mr. Ensley’s editorial."
"First, the notion that 'Every legal opinion for 200 years denied individual gun ownership was a right...' is just factually incorrect. If that were so, the case noted would have never been taken up by the Supreme Court. It took it up because of conflicting or ambiguous court rulings from around the country that preceded it. The Supreme Court had never ruled on the specific question of whether the second amendment affirmed an individual right to '...keep and bear arms.'" ... |

"Those who pay attention to politics have seen it: laws that allow authorities to do things that are clearly unconstitutional, abusive, utterly unreasonable, stupid and/or morally wrong. Take for example a “comprehensive background check” law written such that merely handing someone a firearm to examine, without first completing the mandated paperwork regime and obtaining state permission, is actually a crime. The law may not specifically say that, but a father could be arrested and prosecuted for handing his son a rifle. A law-abiding gun owner could find herself wearing handcuffs for allowing a friend to hold her handgun . . ." ... |

"Christian conservative neurosurgeon Ben Carson is often mentioned as a possible Republican presidential candidate for 2016."
"Carson recently tried to bolster his credibility with pro-gun advocates after telling Glenn Beck in Feb. 2013 that he supported limits on automatic weapons (video below)."

"Questions of government restrictions on the manufacture and design of toy guns are once again in the headlines after another tragic shooting of a 12 year old boy in Cleveland, Ohio by police. On the surface, this incident is far too similar to others we’ve seen in the past. The boy had a BB pistol, an alarmed resident called the police, and when they showed up the kid wound up getting shot. The story has a couple of twists, however. One is the report that when police ordered him to put his hands up, the boy instead lifted his shirt and reached to pull the BB gun out of his waistband, leading to the lethal force response." ... |

Even though I’m not involved in politics, I figured it was worth my time to go check it out and see what it was like since I support Haley and her positive 2A stance. Since it was getting cooler, I thought it’d be a good chance to wear the 1911 that had been neglected most of the summer. So I threw on jeans, a leather/kydex hybrid, and a light jacket. The 'event' was in the lobby of a Holiday Inn. I got there a half hour early, saw a few local cops and a few dozen people in the lobby. Checked the entry way for SC’s very specific no CC sign.
