Firearms can often save lives in situations when people find themselves faced with aggressive wild animals such as bears, mountain lions and bobcats. Anti-gun politicians from metropolitan areas may not be conscious of such dangers faced by law-abiding gun owners in rural regions. Proposed gun-control laws could potentially impact citizens’ abilities to protect people and domestic animals from creatures of greater strength in dangerous encounters.

1975: The NRA Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) was formed. ILA is the lobbying arm of the NRA. ILA is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ILA’s ability to fight successfully for the rights of America’s law-abiding gun owners directly reflects the support of the NRA’s more than 5 million members—a number that has more than tripled since 1978. |

Having passed the red flag gun bill last year, the state legislature cannot become complacent on the issue of gun violence, argues state Rep. Tom Sullivan. “It should be something that we discuss on a regular basis,” said Sullivan, a Democrat from Aurora who championed the red flag bill, and whose son was murdered in the 2012 movie theater massacre. “You should see one or two of these types of bills being brought forward, year after year after year, so that collectively, after five or six bills, we’ve tightened things up.”

The wadcutter is a very unique type of bullet, very much like a lead cylinder. Almost exclusively used to punch holes in paper with low pressure and lightly loaded cartridges, wadcutters don't change shape or become deformed when fired. They make scoring target sheets extremely easy because the round hole created is very defined compared to any other type of ammunition. |

Lawmakers are preparing to hold more hearings on a bill that makes it easier to use lethal force as self-defense in a threatening situation, but Gov. Mike DeWine is calling on the legislature to prioritize another bill before "Stand Your Ground." There are two bills in the legislature that implements what's commonly known as the "Stand Your Ground" law. One in the Senate, SB237, and another in the House, HB381, which has "Stand Your Ground" in the title of the bill.

In case you need more bad news on your Monday, Michael Bloomberg is officially running for president. This formal announcement comes after the former New York City mayor had already registered with the Federal Election Commission and filed to appear on several states' Democratic primary ballots, so it’s not exactly a surprise. Bloomberg ran his first TV ad on Sunday, and the billionaire businessman turned political activist is expected to self-fund his campaign.

When discussing Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren recently, one thing has been very clear: Both of them have been very open about their desire to silence Second Amendment supporters. Yeah, they say it is just the National Rifle Association, but then again, don’t they claim that they don’t want to take away guns? Well, they used to say that – these days, we know that is a lie.

Seattle-based gun control extremists — mislabeled “gun-safety advocates” in a Seattle Times report reprinted in other newspapers — have unveiled their legislative agenda for 2020, just as thousands of Evergreen State gun owners are signing an initiative petition to repeal one of their laws passed in 2018. According to the published reports, the billionaire-backed Alliance for Gun Responsibility will press the Democrat-controlled Legislature to extend “gun-free zones to include childcare centers.” They want to ban so-called “high-capacity magazines” and create a “licensing system for ammunition sellers.”

Federal gun background checks have surged in 2019. The FBI is processing so many requests to vet gun buyers that it may break the single-year record of 27.5 million federal gun background checks set in 2016, USA Today reports. Because the government does not track individual gun sales, background check requests are used as a proxy for demand in the firearms market. |

A week after he told voters that the Second Amendment doesn’t protect “a magazine with a hundred clips in it,” 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden offered supporters more of his singular brand of anti-gun nonsense. While attending a private campaign event in Seattle, the former vice president reportedly called for a ban on 9mm pistols. According to an article from the Seattle Times, Biden was in town to attend two private fundraisers, one of which was at the home of “a top Amazon executive.” The posh soiree set attendees back a princely $2,800 per-person. The other fundraiser was held at the home of a local philanthropist. That staider event offered donors a relative bargain with a $500 minimum price tag. |
