Many shooters will assert there is no difference between .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO and that you can safely fire both from the same rifle. Others will contest that assertion, “The two ammo types are different!”

What’s New—Scotus has four conference days scheduled this month: Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos: Docket No. 23-1141: An argument date has been scheduled before SCOTUS on March 4, 2025; Morse v. Raoul: Case 3:22-cv-02740: On Nov. 12, Judge David W. Dugan reminded the parties that this case stays, but once the stay is lifted, this case will be scheduled as his caseload is reviewed.

By a 6-1 vote Tuesday night, the Newport News, VA City Council banned guns in city-owned buildings and in portions of buildings not owned, but used by, city employees.

The Virginian-Pilot is reporting that Councilman John Eley was the lone “No” vote. He explained, “I want to be able to defend myself.”

The Vermont State Police has concluded its investigation into a deadly July incident at a Cottage Street residence, where two St. Johnsbury residents were killed. Authorities determined that Nicholas Johnson, 42, forcibly entered the home and stabbed Ben Lyons, 21, who succumbed to his injuries.

A Bergen man is facing charges after New York State Police say they found over 100 3D-printed weapons at several locations across Genesee and Orleans counties. Peter Celentano, 35, is accused of having ghost guns, unfinished gun frames, high-capacity ammo feeding devices, gun silencers, and body armor. In total, he’s charged with over 1,000 counts of weapons charges.

Dozens of firearms, including assault rifles and ghost guns, were taken off the streets during a buyback event in Tompkinsville, officials said. The event was hosted by District Attorney Michael E. McMahon and the NYPD at Mt. Sinai United Christian Church on Saturday.

A Michigan man was sentenced to prison after officials said he recruited kids to help him on a two-day crime spree. Deon Bell, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States, stealing a firearm from a licensed dealer and receiving stolen firearms, according to court records.

The promise of a fall season that brings cooler weather has been fleeting and elusive in the Lowcountry this year, but the sporting calendar remains on schedule with seasons now open for quail, ducks, doves and small game. Quail season opened in South Carolina on Nov. 25, allowing bird dog enthusiasts to hit the woods with their favorite hunting buddy. Dove season and duck season opened on Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, respectively, due to migratory bird regulations coming under federal regulations.
