"Anti-gun laws seem to be the brain children of those who would wreck our American way of life, including politicians who should or do know better, and 'write for hire' writers who lack ability to write anything except something that appeals to emotional thinkers or those who can't think at all."

Turnabout is fair play--help protect the Oath Keepers

... "The Oath Keepers have vowed to risk their careers, and perhaps their very freedom, in order to protect our liberty. If they face attack from the Pentagon, it is only right that we do what we can to protect them."

"'But what,' you may ask, 'can we do to help them?' Glad you asked. There's something that the DoD fears more than the growing Chinese military, the resurgent Russian military, and a nuclear-armed Iran--combined: budget cuts. Get a few members of Congress--particularly defense budget committee members--involved, and the Pentagon becomes downright eager to please." ...

"Lee Bidwell is proud of his guns, no matter how 'ugly' they look."

"Others might have nicer-looking black powder firearms, he said, but they didn’t build them nearly from scratch like Bidwell has done in his garage. He often uses odd materials and leftover parts from other guns, not to mention wood for the stocks taken from nearby trees."

"'I'll do everything but rifle the barrel,' the 76-year-old Port Byron resident said, adding he usually buys the barrels." ...

... "... here's what's bugging me: the wingnuts have happily sold you out on your First Amendment rights, your Fourth Amendment rights, your Fifth Amendment rights, your Sixth Amendment rights, and your Eighth Amendment rights, all in the name ... of terrorism."

"But the minute someone suggests that maybe some aspect of the amendment that actually has something to do with the ability to kill people could stand some reexamination, suddenly it's time to Live Free or Die again."

"Why is it that it's OK with wingnuts if the feds infiltrate Quaker groups who pray for peace, wiretap entire city blocks, hold people indefinitely and without trial ... all just in case they might turn out to be somehow connected to terrorism ..." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: Well it is not okay with this 'wingnut'. Oh, and I'm also opposed to violations of the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, too.

"We all like to think that if you present the truth, people will flock to it. Unfortunately, that's not the way it works in the real world."

"Success in any political battle requires 'spreading the word,' aggressively and relentlessly. This is especially true with gun rights. To win hearts and minds, to get pro-gun candidates elected, and to assure good gun laws are passed and bad gun laws are defeated, we must get our message out to as many people as possible."

"Today, one the most powerful and efficient means of spreading the word is sharing pro-gun stories on social sites such as Facebook and Twitter." ...

Submitter's Note: I'm doing it, how about you?

"Based on his longstanding support for Second Amendment rights, Attorney General Richard Cordray announced today that his office has co-sponsored an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court, arguing that these rights should be protected from undue restrictions imposed by state and local governments."

"The Supreme Court is examining this issue in the case of McDonald v. Chicago, based upon the court's landmark ruling last year in District of Columbia v. Heller. That ruling recognized that, with respect to the federal government, the Second Amendment affords individuals the right to keep and bear arms." ...

Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe: Second Amendment time bomb?

"Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe, selected as the new American ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council, wants the UN to invade countries committing human rights violations. Initially, this sounds like good policy, as the idea of saving people from predatory governments is compelling. But sometimes, what starts out as good intentions ends up with unintended consequences. Other times, there is a hidden agenda, and what’s promoted for good results in tragedy." ...

"The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to review an Illinois gun rights ruling has the backing of nearly all the Minnesota Congressional Delegation, the Bemidji Pioneer reported over Thanksgiving."

"'The court should take this opportunity to make clear what we all already know, that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments too,' Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn, told the outstate Minnesota newspaper. 'No state legislature can take away the freedom to protect yourself.'"

"... the only Minnesota representatives not to join in a friend-of-the-court brief asking the high court to uphold Second Amendment gun rights at the local level are Twin Cities Democrats Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison. ..." ...

"A Kent man who chose to 'exercise his right to bear arms' by carrying a holstered Glock pistol into a community center earlier this month has taken the mayor to federal court."

"Robert C. Warden filed a complaint against the Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and the city itself in U.S. District Court, alleging the city's gun ban defies his constitutional right to bear arms."

"The complaint cites an executive order Nickels issued in June, directing all departments to review then-present rules 'to determine the extent to which departments could prohibit firearms on city property.'"

"Nickels last month banned guns on city facilities where children are likely to frequent. The places on the ban list include parks, playgrounds ..." ...

"But some residents say the last thing a neighborhood plagued by violence needs is a gun shop and a place for people to fire them."

SC: Gun sales tax holiday symptom of bigger issue

"Pandering is the best word to describe South Carolina's sales tax holiday for guns."

"This state's 'Second Amendment Weekend' says less about lawmakers' commitment to the right to bear arms and more about their inability to say "no" and their desire to get re-elected."

"The idea was born in election year 2008. It should have died after the S.C. Supreme Court ruled that it was part of a law that violated the state constitution. That ruling came too late to stop last year's 'Second Amendment Weekend.'"

"But lawmakers made it a part of this year's budget, so here we go again." ...

"For almost three years, Kansans have been able to carry concealed handguns if they obtain the required license."

"So far, there have been no major incidents or widespread controversies involving the concealed-carry law, said Phil Journey, the former state senator and firearms advocate from Haysville who helped concealed carry become law. The head of the Kansas police chiefs association agrees with Journey."

"At the same time, far fewer people than expected have obtained concealed-carry licenses."

"Opponents to the law 'generally raised the specter of people shooting each other over car wrecks or parking spaces... and that has not come true ...' said Journey, now a District Court judge in Sedgwick County." ...

"Shotguns, rifles and handguns are all sales tax-free this Friday and Saturday, cutting about nine percent off the price of hunting guns."

"It's due to the second amendment weekend for gun sales across the state."
