There is a growing demand for concealed carry permits in Idaho after a new law went into effect July 1. The law allows most gun owners over age 21 to be armed in public places as long as their pistol is hidden by clothing, a purse or holster. In the Gem State, CrimeResearch.org says nearly 8 percent of the population has a concealed carry permit. SmartGunLaws.org says that number is expected to rise with the law in place. |

A writer at American Thinker on Saturday put it bluntly about the gun prohibition lobby, and so far nobody has screamed that his pants are on fire.
According to author Ben Cohen:
“For the most passionate advocates of gun control, the ultimate goal was never an assault weapons ban or universal background checks. For them, the ultimate goal was a system that included very high barriers to gun ownership, along with major restrictions on the type of weapon one could own. The overarching goal of such regulations would be to reduce the number of gun owners and the number of guns in private hands.”

Our maneuverable modern sporting rifle “build” project continues: It’s a mini-celebration—discreet and polite, unlike the reactions of the other side—of our victories on Election Day. Despite our huge relief with regards to the election results, there’s no evidence that the assault on the Second Amendment is likely to abate (given the vehemence and “anti” tenacity of stuff like this and this), so we’ve no plan to dial down our vigilance. On the other hand, with a breather against the landside of anti-Second Amendment legislation you-know-who would have fostered, we’re making good use of the respite: A highly maneuverable—by which we mean short and light—AR/MSR has long been in our plan, so we’re building one.

Some of us think guns are good, and some of us think guns are bad. Both viewpoints, as I’ll describe them here, are wrong. We all know too many of these voodoo gun owners.
Superstitious gun owners think guns will protect them. These guys and gals go buy another gun if an anti-gun politician says guns are bad. These same gun owners won’t join the NRA to support pro-gun politicians. They go buy another gun if there is a violent crime in their neighborhood, yet they never stop to take a training class. They don’t know how much they don’t know.
I’m going to be blunt: a gun isn’t magic. Only your ingrained habits can help you when you need to defend those you love. Have you built those habits through study and practice? |

Justin Souza says he didn't even know the big beast was there — that is, not until he saw a cloud of warm breath rising from a seemingly anonymous mound of earth. The 29-year-old Livingston man was on an elk hunt early on Nov. 17 when the moment many Montana hunters dread became reality. Souza said he was following a game trail in the mountains surrounding Emigrant when he came upon a sleeping grizzly bear nestled in the dirt in the middle of the trail, all but concealed by foggy conditions and the animal's muddy brown fur. |

Breyona McMillian was killed while home for Thanksgiving from boarding school, according to family. She was near her apartment at the Potomac Gardens housing complex in the 1200 block of I Street when she was shot just before noon. "It is our belief that there were several people outside at the time of the shooting," said Peter Newsham, interim D.C. Police Chief. "It appears at least one suspect fired multiple times, indiscriminately during that occasion and, as a result of that reckless behavior, we lost one of our 16 year-old kids."
