In the November 7 oral argument in U.S. v. Rahimi, the government conceded the fundamental difference between felonies and misdemeanors, which criminal defense and pro-gun attorneys will find useful. Also, direct references were made by some Justices to the issue of non-violent felons who are not dangerous. And on the separate state-law issue of whether administrative officials may have discretion to deny the right to bear arms, the government conceded that they do not.

The .32 S&W Long (7.65x23mm) is a straight-walled, centerfire, rimmed handgun round introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1896. The round, modeled after the .32 S&W cartridge, was made for the S&W Model 1896 Hand Ejector revolver, a precursor to the modern day Magnum handguns.

An extended version of the .32 Smith & Wesson cartridge, the case is a straight-walled, rimmed centerfire – similar to the .32 H&R Magnum and .327 Federal Magnum case diameter, but shorter in length.

Though well established in Europe as a cartridge for hunting today, it is difficult to determine the date for when the 6.5x57 Rimmed was first introduced. The evidence, and lack thereof, seems to suggest that it arrived on the scene during the 1890s. Firearms historians believe the 6.5x57mm may have been developed initially for service in the Italian military, and they also believe that this cartridge influenced the development of the 6.5x58 Portuguese Mauser.

The latest high tech combat handgun to come out of the Springfield Armory skunk works is the 9mm Echelon. Launching into a crowded field already full to bursting, the Echelon has a high bar to clear if it hopes to impress guys like me. However, after rolling around in the dirt with a brand new copy, I can honestly report they cleared the bar by a wide margin. The Echelon flirts with ballistic perfection.
