"Of late – as if not every single week these days – too many law enforcement Chiefs Of Police and Sheriffs are opposing concealed carry and second amendment rights on their own initiative. As we know, 2A is the force which protects all other rights. Non-gun owners are beneficiaries of gun rights efforts. Examples are boondoggles such as anti-crime policies which mandate all citizens to comply with greater intrusion, tracking and other unreasonable mandates. I don't know how belligerent the new administration will get on takings of weapons across America, but the fraud of coaxing people to disarm and thereby increase crime statistics is well underway." ... |

"reason has been on the gun beat since the very first issue of the magazine appeared 40 years ago. In 'Violence in the U.S.—the Reversal of Cause and Effect,' founding editor Lanny Friedlander described the political reaction to the assassination of Bobby Kennedy: 'Gun laws, we find them screeching, from every radio received, gun laws, gun laws, gun laws! Make it illegal for anyone to own a gun and enforce that law at the point of a gun. ... Forget that it leaves the victim unarmed, but leaves the victimizer free to operate. Forget that it makes self-protection a crime, but leaves the criminal better off than he was before. Forget that an assassin can make a gun or steal a gun or even use another type of weapon. Forget all that.'" ... |

"One particular question in the Obama questionnaire for prospective appointees has raised eyebrows around the country, with good reason."
"... Question 59: 'Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used ...'"
"Advocates for gun rights took the question as a sign that the incoming administration is openly hostile to the idea of gun ownership and will seek to abridge Second Amendment rights, as they have feared all along."
"But in the context of the form, it is more a sign that the people asking that question don't know much about firearms." ... |
