A customer expecting to see great deals waved down authorities after she saw something else: a man packing a gun while waiting in line at a Black Friday sale. Police arrested Christopher D. Scott, 49, just after midnight Friday in a checkout line at the Walmart at 3200 Old Boynton Road. Officers had been doing an extra patrol at the store because of the large Thanksgiving Night crowd seeking early bargains. Scott is charged with two counts of carrying a concealed firearm and three counts each of carrying a prohibited weapon and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Scott lives out of state and was visiting his ill mother, he said Friday afternoon. He said he was in the store buying her supplies.

They deny us our First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech and Press, while claiming its protection for themselves. They squelch any expression of our religious belief or patriotism, while demanding the freedom to spread THEIR lies.
They seek to deny our Second Amendment right to Keep and Bear Arms – our right to self-defense – while they will use violence to impose their will on the rest of us. |

The Second Amendment cultists, not content to possess rifles and pistols for hunting and self-protection, insist on possessing assault rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers and other weapons of mass destruction. And we let them do it. |

State Rep. Seth Grove said the Castle Doctrine was easily the issue he heard about most from his constituents during the past two years, and he was genuinely surprised when Gov. Ed Rendell vetoed it Saturday.
"I was very disappointed," said Grove, R-Dover Township.
Grove had been a co-sponsor of the legislation, which expands the Pennsylvania's "Castle Doctrine" -- referring to the adage that a man's home is his castle. |

A new chapter in the decades-old debate over concealed-weapon permits in California is being written in San Diego with a lawsuit accusing the county and newly elected Sheriff Bill Gore of setting standards for such licenses so high that they are “illegal and unconstitutional.”
The suit, filed last year by independent journalist Edward Peruta and six others in federal court in San Diego, joins others filed nationally since 2008 in the wake of two U.S. Supreme Court decisions on gun-ownership rights. |

The American claim about the right to bear arms, as supposedly enshrined in its constitution, was, perhaps, understandably justified at a time when the European colonists to North America faced stiff challenges of living under inhospitable conditions, and when they faced resistance to their occupation by the original indigenous populations. |

When the buck is within range and you're lining up your shot, you might have only one shot at him. So you better make it count.
The Zanesville Rifle Club was helping local hunters make their shots count as they hosted their annual deer sight-in Saturday at Blue Rock State Forest.
Don Pagath, the vice president of the Zanesville Rifle Club, said he expected 20 to 30 hunters Saturday, with many more coming today as the event continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the club's shooting range on 7380 Sugargrove Road. The sight-in is open to the public. |

The National Rifle Association and rogue gun stores are two of the culprits causing gun violence to increase, the executive director for Connecticut Against Gun Violence said Saturday, adding that residents must speak up to — or vote out — officials to demand change and save lives.
Ron Pinciaro spoke to a group of about 40 people Saturday afternoon at a meeting about the work the group has done and how residents can help. In light of the city’s 20 homicides so far this year, local residents said they were eager to prevent more bloodshed. |
