"A public service campaign displaying the slogan 'Guns = Prison' across New York City is an affront to law-abiding firearm owners and an attempt to scare younger people from pursuing legal gun ownership, a group that supports the Second Amendment charged on Thursday."
"The group added that if New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had his way, all guns in America would be outlawed." ... |

"Video cameras have changed the world we live in. Most American squad cars are now equipped with dash-cams -- a move which works for the safety of both the public and the police."
"But the attempt to equip testing laboratories with videocams has not caught on, let alone the idea of publishing and enforcing procedures for the testing of criminal evidence."
"This is certainly the case with the federal gun police, who are otherwise known as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). This agency has continuously refused to conform to scientific standards and has resisted increased accountability." ... |

"Microsoft is dodging sportsmen’s outcries over the corporation’s donation to the largest anti-hunting organization in the United States. It is routing sportsmen’s protests to an e-mail inbox where they can be deleted with the click of a mouse."
"The software giant is refusing to connect sportsmen who object to the company’s $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of the United States via telephone to a live representative. Instead, receptionists will only give hunters' rights advocates an e-mail address for a customer service agent."

"In the coming weeks District officials will find out whether a Court of Appeals decision that found the city's gun laws unconstitutional will stand or whether the U.S. Supreme Court will take up Mayor Adrian Fenty's appeal."
"According to SCOTUSBlog, the justices of the Supreme Court will debate whether or not to take the case on November 9. Should they choose to, the two sides would argue before the court in February or March; otherwise, by mid-November city officials would be faced with the unenviable task of re-writing the District's restrictive gun laws to square with the decision handed down by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District Circuit in March. ..." ... |

"Nearly seven decades ago, the Supreme Court analyzed the meaning of these words: 'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.' ... The Court has not examined the meaning of those words since the ruling in U.S. v. Miller, on May 15, 1939. The debate over what the Court meant ... has continued with growing intensity. Still, the Court has refused repeatedly to resolve the constitutional debate. The occasion for it to do so may have arrived. Both sides, in District of Columbia v. Heller ... have asked the Court to grant review. The case is a pure, and outwardly simple, test of the Second Amendment ..." ... |

I have previously posted, as has Ryan on his blog, regarding the attempt by the ATF to shut down Red’s like they have some 80 percent (1994-2005) of the other firearms dealers in the U.S. Not only are they shutting down legitimate dealers they are keeping an illegal database on gun owners. "Matilda 'Tillie' Kovanich was in trouble. The 83-year-old widow had begun to bleed profusely. She made it to the phone and dialed 911."
"A Seminole County deputy was dispatched to the house, found it locked and left."
"And Tillie Kovanich died."
"The next day, another deputy was dispatched after neighbors raised a new alarm, and found Kovanich's body in her bedroom, a pool of blood at her feet. When her son got to the house the following day, he found the phone next to her bed, its receiver off the hook." ...
"There is nothing to indicate that law-enforcement officials knew Kovanich was bleeding or in distress when she dialed 911. She may have said nothing at all." ... -------

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston |
