"A public service campaign displaying the slogan 'Guns = Prison' across New York City is an affront to law-abiding firearm owners and an attempt to scare younger people from pursuing legal gun ownership, a group that supports the Second Amendment charged on Thursday."

"The group added that if New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had his way, all guns in America would be outlawed." ...

"Video cameras have changed the world we live in. Most American squad cars are now equipped with dash-cams -- a move which works for the safety of both the public and the police."

"But the attempt to equip testing laboratories with videocams has not caught on, let alone the idea of publishing and enforcing procedures for the testing of criminal evidence."

"This is certainly the case with the federal gun police, who are otherwise known as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). This agency has continuously refused to conform to scientific standards and has resisted increased accountability." ...

"Microsoft is dodging sportsmen’s outcries over the corporation’s donation to the largest anti-hunting organization in the United States. It is routing sportsmen’s protests to an e-mail inbox where they can be deleted with the click of a mouse."

"The software giant is refusing to connect sportsmen who object to the company’s $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of the United States via telephone to a live representative. Instead, receptionists will only give hunters' rights advocates an e-mail address for a customer service agent."

"'Microsoft is silencing sportsmen by passing them off to an e-mail where messages can quietly come in and quietly be erased,' said USSA President Bud Pidgeon. ..." ...

... "Yet the United States is a deeply troubled society. According to the Violence Policy Centre, 29,569 Americans died by gunfire in 2004. When there is no war going on such a statistic is evidence that something is deeply wrong."

"Against such a backdrop of catastrophe it is easy to portray gun-owners and their favourite politicians as priests in a cult of death. But a crude caricature takes us nowhere near understanding why firearms remain so dear to so many." ...

"In the coming weeks District officials will find out whether a Court of Appeals decision that found the city's gun laws unconstitutional will stand or whether the U.S. Supreme Court will take up Mayor Adrian Fenty's appeal."

"According to SCOTUSBlog, the justices of the Supreme Court will debate whether or not to take the case on November 9. Should they choose to, the two sides would argue before the court in February or March; otherwise, by mid-November city officials would be faced with the unenviable task of re-writing the District's restrictive gun laws to square with the decision handed down by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District Circuit in March. ..." ...

"Nearly seven decades ago, the Supreme Court analyzed the meaning of these words: 'A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.' ... The Court has not examined the meaning of those words since the ruling in U.S. v. Miller, on May 15, 1939. The debate over what the Court meant ... has continued with growing intensity. Still, the Court has refused repeatedly to resolve the constitutional debate. The occasion for it to do so may have arrived. Both sides, in District of Columbia v. Heller ... have asked the Court to grant review. The case is a pure, and outwardly simple, test of the Second Amendment ..." ...

"What would your child do if he or she came across a gun? Would he or she know enough to walk away or would curiosity step in?"

"It's a scary thought to ponder during hunting season, which is when more children come across more weapons than ever."

"Gun safety is a lifelong learning experience for children in the Yough School District. The district starts with the basics, but by the time many of the kids graduate from high school, they've spent quite a bit of time on the gun range."

"In my quest to see where the Presidential candidates stand on the ATF's agenda of shutting down the firearms industry, I have learned that Mitt Romney would dodge the question and give us the new term Extreme Weapons."

"A friend of John McCain's early on in our fight; who was also a customer of ours asked for information on behalf of the Senator. I was hopeful of some kind of response, but months went by and there was no follow up."

"My question to Congressman Ron Paul in contrast was answered directly (not a form letter) from his Regional Campaign Coordinator, it was to the point and the response was in less than 10 minutes." ...

"Ryan Horsley, manager of Red’s Trading Post (a firearms dealership), has been hassled by the ATF / BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) for several years now. I have previously posted, as has Ryan on his blog, regarding the attempt by the ATF to shut down Red’s like they have some 80 percent (1994-2005) of the other firearms dealers in the U.S. Not only are they shutting down legitimate dealers they are keeping an illegal database on gun owners. The ATF must be stopped and Michael J. Sullivan must NOT be confirmed as the Director of the BATFE."

"New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton supports giving drivers' licenses to illegal aliens, but she opposes right-to-carry statutes that provide concealed carry licenses for law-abiding American citizens and others who are here legally, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today."

"'Based on her comments during Tuesday night's debate,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, 'Sen. Clinton must think people in this country illegally are entitled to greater rights than citizens and others who are here legally. Maybe it's because she knows that illegal aliens would vote for her, while law-abiding American gun owners won't.'" ...
