Seattle City Councilwoman Lorena Gonzalez is suddenly critical of big money spending in political campaigns, according to a report at KOMO News, the local ABC affiliate, but where was she when the billionaire-backed Alliance for Gun Responsibility was bankrolling gun control initiatives?
KOMO and rival KING, the NBC affiliate, are both reporting that Gonzalez, who actually benefitted from big corporate contributions back in 2015, wants to put the brakes on. |

A grassroots coalition of gun-rights supporters descended onto the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building Saturday, rallying to forestall congressional action on gun control that has been gaining steam over the past few months. One reporter estimated that by 1 p.m., over 1,000 people had turned out. The event, titled "Rally for Your Rights," was organized largely by gun-rights enthusiasts without the backing of major pro-gun organizations.

Outrage over deaths caused by mass shootings invade the public consciousness like the tide, ebbing and flowing it seems with increasing regularity. So regularly that we may almost be able to predict the next shooting with grotesque certainty. In order to prevent them in Maine we have moved in this state to draft legislation designed to protect the innocent from the violent.

In what some might consider a stunningly frank editorial, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette verbally spanked Mayor Bill Peduto this week following the city’s loss in its attempt to create its own gun control laws—a reaction to last year’s tragic Tree of Life Synagogue shooting—in spite of Pennsylvania’s Uniform Firearms Act.
That’s the Keystone State’s preemption law, which prohibits local municipalities from adopting their own gun laws. Such laws have been adopted by a majority of state legislatures, with Washington being among the first. Peduto pushed through three ordinances, and the court slapped them down. |

Hours after Robert “Beto” O’Rourke ended his campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination, Joe Biden tweeted that O’Rourke’s “passion” for gun control was “inspiring.”
O’Rourke’s gun control efforts were characterized by a pledge to confiscate AR-15 and AK-47 rifles. He clearly stated it on September 12, 2019, saying, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15,” then stood behind the pledge by telling MSNBC the confiscatory policy would be “mandatory” not voluntary. |

An opinion piece in The Atlantic, titled “A Constitutional Case for Gun Control,” showed how tangled the mainstream media’s narrative on guns is nationally. The opinion article was written by two Yale Law School students. Like many on the anti-gun left, they are clearly worried that a majority of U.S. Supreme Court justices will honestly interpret the Second Amendment of the U.S. Bill of Rights when they rule on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York sometime next year.

Not many pistols come with a grip safety – basically there’s 1911 pistols, the Springfield XD series, and the Remington R51 as far as anything in current production – but two of those three are very popular. And the grip safety gives some people fits. |

A bill requiring St. Louis gun dealers to alert police when a firearms purchase is denied because of a criminal background check is the latest step in addressing violence in a city beset by gun crimes. St. Louis aldermen unanimously gave final approval to the bill Friday. Supporters say 30% of criminals who try to purchase guns but fail through background checks are arrested within five years. The bill awaits the mayor’s signature. |

Minnesota’s deer opener is just around the corner and the DNR wants hunters to know about new regulations on bringing deer across state lines. The DNR has placed deer carcass import and movement restrictions in order to control the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease found in deer. This means whole deer carcasses cannot leave CWD zones until negative tests are confirmed.

The sky was blue, the wind light, the temperature mild, and there were thousands of Second Amendment activists at the Rally for the Second Amendment on the 2nd of November, 2019. Counting was imprecise without a good overhead image of the crowd. About half an hour before the rally I counted a quarter and estimated about 500. The crowd swelled as the start time approached. My best estimate was over 2,000 activists were in the crowd at peak attendance.

For those who love big bore revolvers, the .454 Casull (pronounced like KA-sool) is often a favorite. Longer than the .45 Long Colt and much more powerful, this ammunition spent more than half of its life as a popular wildcat, not becoming a standard, factory round until it’d been in the handloader arena for over 40 years. |

Last year Beto O’Rourke surged onto the political scene as the guy who almost took down Ted Cruz in Texas. Today he is a failed presidential candidate who went from hero to zero in the polls at lightning speed. They key to understanding his remarkable decline is his bizarre and unwise decision to paint himself as the farthest left candidate in a field of loony lefties.

Loading magazines is one of those things, like cleaning dirty guns or tidying up the workshop, that you know you need to do, but really kinda dread. It takes forever, it’s hard on your fingers and it takes a second or two to empty a magazine that took a couple minutes to load. Don’t get me wrong, it’s gotta get done, but I don’t know anyone that says, “Oh boy! I get to load magazines today!”

Daffy and Donald Duck should be careful leaving their homes this month, as the Youth Waterfowl Hunting Day begins Nov. 16 on any private property, or near bodies of water that have public access. On this day, only kids 15 and younger are allowed to hunt while being accompanied by an adult. The kids are allowed to hunt ducks, geese, coots, and moorhens without needing a license or permit to hunt these birds. |
