On behalf of our nearly six million members across the country, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) this week endorsed Mike Dunleavy for governor of Alaska. Dunleavy has earned an “A” rating from the NRA. He opposes the Bloomberg/Pelosi/Schumer gun control agenda of banning commonly owned firearms and ammunition. Dunleavy also co-sponsored legislation to eliminate gun free zones and champions the rights of law-abiding Alaskans to protect themselves and their families.

National Rifle Association President Oliver North is campaigning for Missouri’s Republican U.S. Senate candidate Josh Hawley. North spoke to several dozen Hawley supporters during a Saturday rally in Imperial, about 30 minutes south of St. Louis. North railed against Missouri’s incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill and other Democrats, warning that if Democrats take control of the U.S. House they will try to impeach President Donald Trump.

With a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue still fresh in America’s memory, some of the nation's leading gun control advocates took their campaigns this weekend to Texas, a deep-red state with more registered guns than any U.S. state, according to a 2016 report by the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

In 2011, Victoria Wojciechowski’s life turned upside down with the presence of a man who presented a physical threat to her well-being. The man had 10 inches and 90 pounds on her, and even though her husband David Wojciechowski was with her, he couldn’t be with her all the time. She went to law enforcement for a restraining order, after which the police told her to find additional forms of protection.

The midterm elections are only a few days away, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi already predicting a Democrat victory, while one of the nation’s leading Second Amendment advocates just ripped the news media for what he called subliminal bias, especially relating to a crucial gun control ballot issue in Washington State.

“Gun control versus gun rights is an important shadow issue,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, “because Democrats have already made it clear that guns will be on the agenda if they take control of the Congress.”

With the crucial midterm elections just four days away, CNBC is reporting that October saw a gain of 250,000 jobs and average hourly earnings inching up at “the best pace since 2009,” and Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters are virtually salivating over the prospects that they will be in the majority after Tuesday.

But as congressional hopeful Dino Rossi, the veteran Republican running to fill Washington State’s 8th District seat vacated by Rep. Dave Reichert’s retirement, put it Friday morning to Seattle talk jock John Carlson. “If our people show up (to vote) we win…But they’ve got to show up.”

There is no question that our liberties are at stake on November 6th, 2018. The Democrat leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives has become completely radicalized when it comes to the Second Amendment. Our constitutional freedoms are standing in the way of the extreme big government control that these anti-gun politicians want to impose.

The likelihood of taking a long shot while hunting increases the farther west you go, so your setup needs to be modified to go the distance. Whether shooting across a canyon or an open plain, the tools Eastern hunters use can get the job done, but they’re far from ideal when trying to hammer a deer at 300-plus yards.

Oregon voters in 10 counties have a chance to take preventive action before gun control advocates bankroll any more restrictions on guns and ammunition. This year, the ballot will include a measure designed to safeguard an American’s right to own semi-automatic guns and magazines that hold more rounds than whatever some political body arbitrarily decides is enough.

The popular handgun calibers are almost all at least a century old. 9mm, .45 ACP and .380 Auto all predate WWI. .38 Special? Queen Victoria still ruled Britannia when that came out. .357 Magnum is a relative newcomer; it was released in the 1930s. The only real new boys are the .40 S&W and 10mm. The only hitch there is fewer people actually carry the latter than talk about it and the former is basically on its way out. Yes, yes, there was .357 Sig for a while but rest assured of the following: nobody cares.

When the Columbine High School massacre happened near here in 1999, many felt it would galvanize gun control efforts. Others thought the same in 2012, when a gunman killed 12 moviegoers at a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” Aurora’s experience with mass gun violence stretches back to 1993, when a former employee entered a Chuck E. Cheese’s and killed four people. The district has more registered Democrats than Republicans, and by presidential election results, it is slightly bluer than the nation as a whole.

When I was a kid, during the holidays, my sister and I would get the big Sears & Roebuck catalog and go through it marking all the stuff we’d like to have for Christmas. We called it the “Wish Book.” Some things don’t change all that much with the passing of the years; I feel the same way about a big firearms accessory catalog like the one from Brownells. There’s all those accessories just crying to be put on your favorite shooting iron. It boggles the mind of just about every defensive handgunner.

Patriot Prayer’s pro-gun rally at Lower Columbia College went over peacefully Friday morning, despite some tense verbal exchanges between the group, a single counter-demonstrator and several onlookers. LCC was one of the Vancouver-based protest group’s latest stops on its tour of Washington college campuses to oppose Initiative 1639, which would require enhanced background checks, waiting periods and increased age requirements for semiautomatic rifle ownership and secure gun storage for all firearms. Voters will decide on the measure in Tuesday’s general election.

"Semi-automatic weapons have to be put under a certain level of responsible control. And I believe that as the next governor of Georgia, I can work with Democrats and Republicans to come up with common sense gun safety legislation that allow us to make our families and our communities safer," Abrams told CNN anchor Jake Tapper.

A red-tailed hawk sliced through the last hanging leaves, then crashed the underbrush after prey. I didn’t hear any screaming mammal, so I guessed it was a clean kill. That’s the hunter I want to be: savage, striking out of thin air.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... — Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894).
