The direct questioning of STATE witness Richard McGinnis by ADA Binger was an absolute trainwreck for the prosecution–and, of course, the jury watched it all happen in real-time.

UPDATE: To provide some context, for more than 12 minutes ADA Binger tried to get McGinnis to testify that Rosenbaum was already falling to the ground when Rittenhouse began shooting him–in other words, that Rittenhouse simply executed Rosenbaum by shooting him in the back when he was helplessly falling.

Chief Justice John Roberts and other conservative members of the court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, suggested New York's law goes too far. Why, Roberts asked, does a person seeking a license to carry a gun in public for self-defense have to show a special need to do so? “The idea that you would need a license to exercise a right is unusual with regard to the Bill of Rights,” he said.
But Roberts was also among the justices who pressed a lawyer for the law's challengers on where guns might be prohibited.

The rapid sequence in which Kyle Rittenhouse shot three men on the streets of Kenosha was set off by the confrontational behavior of the first man, who threatened to kill Rittenhouse and others in his group and later grabbed for the 17-year-old’s weapon right before he was shot, witnesses testified.

The testimony at Rittenhouse’s murder trial Thursday came from two witnesses who were called to the stand by the prosecution but gave accounts often more favorable to the defense in the politically polarizing case.

Things have changed in more than three decades. The ABC News report described the fact that while MSR ownership is more common than that of Ford F-150s, they are still rarely used in crime. There are more than 20 million MSRs in circulation, and they are the most popular selling centerfire rifles in America today. The fact is most crimes are committed by criminals that illegally obtain handguns.

Springfield Armory debuted an entirely new series of 1911 pistols a few months ago with the Emissary. Now, Springfield Armory has unveiled NEW offerings through that very line with a 4.25″ .45 Auto and a 5″ 9mm pistol now available for shooters. With Government and Commander length barrels available in the two most common cartridges for a 1911, fans of the John Browning design should be pleased with the choices they now have before them.

NY: Does The Second Amendment Have A Geography Clause?

During oral arguments in NYS Rifle & Pistol, there were extended discussions of New York's diverse geography. There are the rural areas of upstate New York, the urban jungle of New York City (never say "downstate"), and "intermediate areas" like Rensselaer County. These varied communities raise the question of whether the scope of Second Amendment rights can vary from place-to-place.

For example, Justice Thomas asked NY SG Underwood how population density affects the scope of the right to bear arms:

An Associated Press investigation in 2015 found that the FBI had built a fleet of at least 50 surveillance planes that flew more than 100 flights over 11 states during a one-month span in the spring of that year under the Obama administration. The AP traced the planes to at least 13 fake companies designed to obscure the identity of the aircraft and the pilots.

The AP review also found that the Drug Enforcement Administration had at least 92 surveillance aircraft as of 2011 under Obama. The U.S. Marshals Service also has operated its own aerial surveillance program.

The first man shot by Kyle Rittenhouse on the streets of Kenosha was “hyperaggressive” that night, threatened to kill Rittenhouse and later lunged for his rifle just before the 17-year-old fired, witnesses testified Thursday.

There’s a virus afflicting our country that has claimed the lives of more Americans in the last 50 years than all of our wars combined. It is equivalent to having one year’s worth of a COVID-level pandemic nearly every decade, yet it has been routinely ignored by influential lawmakers. This virus has nothing to do with our immune systems: it is our toxic gun culture.

Approximately one in three Americans own a firearm (a statistic that has remained consistent for decades and is much higher than those of comparable nations). Astoundingly, those one in three Americans own 40% of the total civilian-owned firearms in the world, which translates to more guns than people in the United States.

“Do we really want a whole bunch of Cheryls running around with pistols in the grocery store?” Dwyer asked.

“Yeah, we probably do because Cheryl is trained,” Apple replied indignantly. “I feel proficient with my weapon, I feel secure with my weapon, and I feel confident with my weapon. I don’t think the Cheryls are the one[s] out there that are hurting people and committing the crimes and being unsafe with their guns.”

Conversely, I’m more interested in guns than most people. I place significant importance on having a gun that’s not only safe and reliable (like my Ford) but also has many of the bells and whistles that make it a little easier to carry and shoot. And like a car guy, I’m willing to pay more for what I want.

But many view the purchase of a defensive pistol the way I view buying a vehicle. They are looking for something safe and reliable that won’t break the bank. That’s where companies like SCCY come in.

Since then, gun-rights advocates have been repeatedly frustrated in their attempts to get lawsuits and appeals challenging local, state, and federal gun laws before the nation’s highest court. Most notable was the Court’s June 2017 decision not to accept Peruta v. California, a long-anticipated challenge of a California law that requires a citizen to seek “may issue” permission from local authorities in order to carry a gun outside the home.

Mak says the NRA decided to build an increasingly conservative identity for itself after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Connecticut. “The NRA decides it’s much less interested in reaching out to Democrats and moderates as it used to be … embracing this kind of culture war approach to gin up fundraising and membership numbers.” Unable to keep waging the culture war, Mak says Donald Trump’s election in 2016 was “kind of the start of the end for the NRA.”

“During the last six sessions, together we have passed tougher Human Trafficking laws, dramatically increasing your Second Amendment Gun and Knife Rights and strengthening the Pro-Life laws to the strongest in the county. We have reduced business taxes and fees and put more controls in the hands of voters with respect to property taxes. Texas Tech University has had historical success in a number of areas including achieving "Tier 1" status and the opening of the School of Veterinary Medicine.”

What's behind the rise in gun ownership for people of color?

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, a national trade association in the firearms industry, says that when comparing 2019 to 2020, there was a 58.2% increase in gun purchases among Black people, a 43% increase with Asians and 49% among Latinos. The NSSF estimates that 40% of gun sales overall were for first-time gun buyers.

There are many factors motivating new gun purchases among people of color: some buyers who spoke with ABC News cited concerns about safety in the U.S., while others claim that pro-gun outreach by various gun advocacy groups is behind the rush to arm oneself.

In every "gritty" movie that wins awards in Hollywood, there is smoking (it makes their characters gritty and "believable"), guns and violence.

All over the movies and the violent video games the entertainment industry produces are the oily fingerprints of the liberal Hollywood elite.

Somehow these stars, who are protected by well-armed security guards but who want to defund the police who protect us, reason that we should not have our Second Amendment right and that we Southern males are the real root cause of violence in America. Guns in your hands: bad; guns in their hands: good.

“Everybody got a pistol. Everybody got a .45. And the philosophy seems to be — at least as near as I can see — ‘When the other folks give up theirs, I’ll give up mine.’”

That’s a line from the Gil Scott-Heron song, “Gun,” a 1981 critique of gun violence in America. Unfortunately, a majority of Supreme Court justices don't seem to have taken it to heart. On Wednesday, the court sounded likely to strike down a New York law that prohibits individuals from carrying concealed handguns in public if they don’t have “proper cause” to carry.

More Californians could be allowed to carry concealed weapons if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down a New York law under challenged from Second Amendment advocates.

The nine justices on Wednesday heard arguments against a New York law that requires gun owners to obtain a special license from local authorities to carry firearms outside the home and show “proper cause” to get one, according to The Washington Post. Seven other states have similar laws: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

A recent video from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the notoriously polemical GOP congresswoman, made waves across social media. In the ad, Greene stepped out of a Humvee, donning boots, aviator glasses and an army-green jacket, and lifted up a military grade Barrett M82A1 sniper rifle.

“Joe Biden armed an Islamic terrorist nation with $83 billion in weapons, like this one,” she said, critiquing the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan. “Now I’m doing a gun giveaway of my own, but for Americans only.”

Illegal guns are flowing into Mexico from the U.S. at a record pace, and the Mexican government isn’t happy about that.

Mexican officials say those guns are contributing to rising homicide rates in their country and empowering transnational criminal organizations blamed for most of the 120,000 murders reported in Mexico in the past three years.

“We estimate that half a million weapons are trafficked from the U.S. to Mexico every year. The problem is that all this weaponry is getting to the criminal organizations, giving them very strong firepower to commit all kinds of crimes,” said Mauricio Ibarra Ponce de Leon, Mexico’s consul general in El Paso.

We can speculate on a lot of the reasons why, but there is one thing that Second Amendment supporters should keep in mind: There are no guarantees or sure things.

This should be kept in mind by Second Amendment supporters. There are those who think that the upcoming Supreme Court case will be the silver bullet that ends the threat that anti-Second Amendment extremists pose to our rights. Spoiler alert: It isn’t, and nor will the multiple cases working their way up from Roger Benitez’s court.

They say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” That seems to be the case with the White House’s announcement of executive actions to prevent suicides since they are what is already being done voluntarily by the firearm industry. The firearm industry, however, actually applauds these measures and welcomes the Biden administration embracing initiatives our industry has proven are effective.
