A armed private citizen reportedly engaged the shooter who killed more than two dozen people Sunday at a rural southeast Texas church, and then chased the suspect several miles along with another man, various news agencies have reported.

The Washington Times identified the killer as Devin Patrick Kelley, 26. When authorities investigated, they found several firearms in Kelley’s car. But the rifle he used, identified as a Ruger semi-auto, was left at the crime scene after the armed citizen fired at him.

Most shoppers crouched behind checkout counters or bolted toward the back exit. But as a gunman fired inside a Wal-Mart store in a Denver suburb, some patrons took a more defensive approach: They grabbed their own guns. They were the proverbial "good guys with guns" that gun rights advocates say have the power to stop mass shootings.

The Loneliness of the Liberal Gun Lover

On a recent Saturday, a 35-year-old Puerto Rican woman who grew up in Spanish Harlem, came out of the shadows. In front of two dozen strangers mopping up the last of their buffet lunch, Miriam O’Quinn revealed two details about herself that she rarely shares, at least not in the same sentence. She voted for Bernie Sanders. And she really likes to shoot guns.
The reason she had come here, to the banquet room of McKenzie’s Barbecue, was that the other two dozen people in the room were more or less just like her— otherwise liberal Democrats who happen to feel just as passionately about the Second Amendment as they do about, say, universal health care.

The San Francisco Police Commission has voted to arm police officers with electric stun guns in the wake of a deadly shooting. Friday’s 4-3 vote was met with shouts of “Shame!” from activists who contend that the supposedly less-lethal weapons can kill and could escalate rather than de-escalate confrontations, leading to deadly encounters.

Dimond's Jasmine Kobayashi broke the long-standing Cook Inlet Conference riflery record Friday by shooting 297 out of a possible 300 at the Chugiak High range.

Kobayashi was perfect in two of the three stages, firing scores of 100 from the prone position and standing position before shooting 97 from the kneeling position.

The performance took down the region record of 296 set in 2003 by Service's Jessalin Schultz and tied by several shooters in subsequent years.

After Kobayashi's perfect score in the standing stage, "tension built as the realization that the new region record was within reach," Dimond coach John Snead said.

"It's very rare for a high school student to shoot 100 in standing," he added.

Dave Bautista is a liberal kind of guy ... who likes his guns.
We got the wrestler-turned-big actor at LAX Saturday where he told our photog he's a big second amendment guy, with limits. He thinks it's insane bump stocks are not illegal. He throws some serious shade on O.J. Simpson -- who has said he's moving to Bautista's home state of Florida -- saying he'd decline an invite to share a beer with him. He also uses O.J. as a reason why it's important for people to bare arms.

Congress has shown no sign of changing any gun laws more than four weeks after the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nev. With nearly 7 in 10 Americans saying Congress “needs to do more” to reduce gun violence, people are frustrated by the lack of movement on meaningful reform. But a major case pending before the Supreme Court could break the logjam — even though the case has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

Texans can help prevent mass shootings by carrying concealed guns, Attorney General Ken Paxton said Sunday, hours after at least 26 people were killed in a church in Sutherland Springs. "This is going to happen again," he told Fox News. "All I can say is in Texas at least we have the opportunity to have conceal carry. And so ... there's always the opportunity that gunman will be taken out before he has the opportunity to kill very many people."

Sheriff Eugene Conway's office usually participates in the so-called gun involved violence initiative, or GIVE, from April through October. A panel of state lawmakers has recommended lessening restrictions on firearms in the Hoosier State. The committee, which was tasked with studying the potential repeal of the laws that require a person to attain a license to carry a handgun, released their recommendation Monday afternoon.
While the recommendation doesn’t endorse the proposal, it does seek to lessen or remove so-called “hurdles” that stand in the way of Hoosier's 2nd Amendment rights.

4 Best Deer Cartridges: No. 1 for the Woods

We can break down the type of deer cartridges needed based on the conditions of the hunt. Woods hunters don’t need long-range reach; they typically need compact, quick-handling rifles. Too often hunters who prowl the timber become infatuated with the wide-open spaces of the West. In turn, they opt for a rifle better suited to the Wyoming prairie than the pine thicket on the old home place. There are many different rifles suitable for deer hunting, and the same can be said for cartridges. They all work well, some are just a better fit for the woods.

The subject of Individual First-Aid Kits (IFAK) is something near and dear to my heart, as I lived and used them daily for many years as a Green Beret medic. I used my overseas experience to both hone my own skills as well as develop products that are useful outside of the military. Hopefully I can shed some light on what and why I’ve chosen the items you’ll find in the IFAKs I build and design for friends, my family and myself.

All Chicago police officers on patrol will be wearing chest-mounted body cameras by the end of the year — but could gun-mounted cameras be next? The answer may lie 1,200 miles south, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The town, with a population of about 250,000, is the largest of a handful of municipalities around the country that are testing the devices. And their findings will be weighed by Chicago cops going forward.
