"As a Chicago 'community organizer' and member of the Illinois and U.S. Senate, Barack Obama established a strong anti-Second Amendment record. But as a candidate for President, the former Joyce Foundation board member sought to convince voters that his administration would offer no threat to their gun rights ..."

"In our election night coverage, we predicted that despite Obama's campaign pledges ... his cabinet picks would be an early sign of his true intentions."

"It is day two of the transition to an Obama presidency, and the administration is now made up of three persons with rated by the NRA with an 'F'-rating, and his transition team is headed by no less than Bill Clinton's former point man on gun control." ...

"Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets." ...

"The .410 cartridge has always been one of the favorite rounds of small-game hunters, especially for rabbits, squirrels and grouse."

"In my rabbit hunting gang, both for cottontail and snowshoe, four out of the six of us who hunt at least two days per week in the winter carry a .410 long gun. Although my primary rabbit shotgun is a 20-gauge Beretta over/under, on occasion I carry my .410 double-barrel loaded with No. 4 shot for snowshoe rabbits. But this gun has since been replaced with a new Taurus .410/45 Colt five-shot revolver called The Judge."

"The Judge will shoot both a 21⁄2-inch, .410 shot shell and a 45 Colt. The Judge comes in several different barrel lengths ..." ...

"Across the country, from the Presidential race to U.S. Senate, U.S. House and state races, voters elected candidates supporting sensible gun laws, while gun lobby messages using outdated scare tactics about government seizure of privately-owned guns fell flat, and millions spent by the National Rifle Association went to waste."

"How the gun issue played in this election - and worked to the benefit of the majority of Americans that want to make it harder for dangerous people to get dangerous weapons - is reviewed in a special post-election report being released today by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence." ...

Hunters Who Eat Wild Game Suffer Heavy Metals Poisoning from Lead Bullets

"Health Ranger comment: There's something downright karmic about hunters being poisoned with lead after eating wild game they shot with lead bullets. New research shows that the lead from the lead bullets does, indeed, get into the meat that's consumed by hunters. The level of lead in their blood (and their brains) begins to rise. High levels of lead, of course, impair cognitive function, leading to stupidity and mental insanity. This is a medical fact, not a statement of opinion about hunters. It does, however, explain why hunters may be medically insane. Quick question: Are these the kind of people who should be walking around with loaded firearms?" ...

"The 2008 election marked a major victory for common sense gun laws. Never in our nation’s history have we had an incoming President and Vice President more supportive of strong gun laws."

"The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence strongly endorsed the Obama-Biden ticket, and for good reason. Barack Obama has consistently supported strong sensible gun violence prevention laws throughout his career, and Joe Biden has been a leader in Congress for strong gun laws." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: In other words, gun bans. Oh yeah he said he would not impinge on our rights but every law he proposed will do just that. It is clear that they intend to make it impossible to own a firearm legally in the US.

"Lori Davis remembers a time when the doors were always open at her church -- and not guarded."

"'No one thought twice about their safety. I guess we took it for granted,' said Davis."

"But things have changed. In an era when terrorism threats and deadly shootings at schools and churches have made headlines, religious leaders are rethinking their security strategies. Last Saturday, a minister was fatally shot and another man wounded outside of a church in Kentucky where the men went to attend a funeral."

"Such violence has houses of worship evolving from the days of walkie-talkies and video surveillance to armed guards, who keep a watchful eye over worship services and church." ...

Submitter's Note: But the Brady bunch say we don't need a gun in church.

"Guns are still allowed at Lubbock City Hall. This comes after the city council rejected a resolution that would ban concealed weapons at public meetings. Two council members proposed to post a standing sign prohibiting concealed handguns just outside council chambers. The only exception would be commissioned peace officers."

"The idea to ban guns at public meetings comes from council members, Floyd Price and Linda DeLeon. DeLeon tells NewsChannel 11 she has seen one council member with a gun in these chambers. 'I am very uncomfortable knowing that other than commissioned peace officers, there are guns in our meetings as we speak,' DeLeon said. ..." ...

"When 10-year-old Austin Smith heard Barack Obama had been elected president, he had one question: Does this mean I won't get a new gun for Christmas?"

"That brought his mother, the camouflage-clad Rachel Smith, to Bob Moates Sports Shop on Thursday, where she was picking out that special 20-gauge shotgun — one of at least five weapons she plans to buy before Obama takes office in January."

"Barack Obama said he would improve the economy. Turns out he already has, at least in one retail niche: gun sales."

"Starting in the days before the election, gun shops have been mobbed by buyers who fear that Obama and a larger Democratic majority in Congress will restrict firearm sales."

"Many were stocking up on things such as assault rifles, high-capacity magazines and handguns that they think would be the most likely targets of new laws, though practically everything related to shooting has been selling more quickly." ...

"Some Texans are flocking to gun shops, stocking up on ammo and firearms. In fact, sales at many stores in the state are up significantly among fears that President-elect Obama may tighten some gun bans. KLTV 7's Courtney Lane took a look at that trend here in East Texas."

"Oscar Davila was out today, shopping for his first gun."

"'Little bit of a fear, I guess, of what may be to come. You know, you hear all these rumors of what Obama may do. You never know, plus I don't have one and I feel it may be necessary just for home protection more than anything else,' said Davila."

"Some Houstonians are stocking up. They are concerned some gun laws are going to tighten up now that President-elect Obama is on his way to the White House."

"In the last few months, firearms and ammunition have been hard to keep in stock at Jim Pruett's gun store. In the eight years his store has been open, last Saturday he hit an all-time sales record. The colorful tickets reveal 31 gun sales in his modest store."

"'The only other day we can compare it to is 9-11, when sales where astronomical,' Pruett said."

"So in a tough economy, where consumers are cutting back, what's driving gun sales? Many fear that President-elect Obama could tighten gun laws."

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46
