On its way to becoming one of Europe’s leading sporting firearm manufacturers, Blaser has demonstrated an ability to reinvent how familiar guns operate. Notable creations include the F3 over-under shotgun (2003) and R8 straight-pull bolt-action rifle (2008), both of which present highly original ways to perform routine tasks, with innovations designed to make the guns easier, faster, safer and more pleasant to shoot.

Vermont gun retailer Henry Parro is under fire from an unexpected source — his own insurer. On Oct. 11, Philadelphia Insurance Companies informed Parro that his 34-year-old gun store in Waterbury was about to lose its insurance policy. The reason the insurer gave, however, should concern gun shop owners everywhere. |

Gun owners and second-amendment advocates believe Clinton will act to restrict gun sales — and Americans are rushing to buy rifles and sidearms ahead of a possible Democratic win on Election Day. |

Who would have thought that after six Olympic games representing the United States), I may have to move out of the California to continue my Olympic shooting career. Proposition 63, if passed Tuesday, will fundamentally change how law-abiding citizens can purchase and transport ammunition in California. In my opinion, based on 27 years of shooting almost every day, this measure will only serve to make California residents less safe. If you think it will end with California, think again.

Arizonans looking to exercise their Second Amendment right on Election Day should stay away from the polls. Arizona is one of only six states that prohibit guns in polling places. That means no one — even those with permits — can come within 75 feet of a polling location.

There have been only 19 homicides in Montreal in 2016, and if the trend holds, the city will end up with fewer this year than any since the 1960s. With a population of about 1.7 million, the Canadian city is slightly larger than Philadelphia and Phoenix. But Montreal saw only 28 homicides in 2014, compared with 248 and 114 in the two U.S. cities that year, respectively.

You likely won't see uniformed police officers Tuesday inside polling locations, but plenty will be nearby if problems arise. Local election officials have asked Dallas police, Dallas County sheriff's deputies and Dallas ISD police to increase patrols near the county's nearly 760 polling sites.

To solve America’s problem with gun violence, look no further than how the U.S. has curbed motor vehicle fatalities through increased safety measures and stricter legislation. That’s according to Sandro Galea, Robert A. Knox Professor and dean of the Boston University School of Public Health. Galea was the keynote speaker for the School of Public Health and Health Professions’ 28th annual J. Warren Perry Lecture, held Friday afternoon in the Butler Auditorium in Farber Hall, South Campus. |

Election 2016 is radically different than any I can recall in my lifetime, mainly because there are so many unknowns. It’s pretty clear that there is pervasive frustration among large swaths of the citizenry. The fact that a non-traditional politician, Donald Trump, swept the primaries – even though both sides of the establishment put up every possible obstacle – tells us something. A lot of people are really tired of how Washington operates, on both sides of the aisle. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
