"The recent debate about ballistic fingerprinting is nothing less than complete firearm registration. Common sense will tell you that when two metal surfaces contact each other, the surface characteristics will change over a period of time because of that contact. The physical properties of the materials used in firearm barrels and ammunition will without a doubt affect any attempt at static ballistic fingerprinting. This is a fact and cannot be disputed." ... |

A brilliant proposal for gun control, good for a chuckle, posted on Eugene Volokh's blog site:
"My friend and former colleague Dan Polsby, a lawprof at George Mason University, writes:
'ABC News is reporting that the DC sniper's rifle, said to be a "Bushmaster," was stolen from a Tacoma gun shop. I believe this should be made illegal.'

Brady Campaign to Eradicate the Second Amendment issued the above-linked press release and gave it the following title: "Brady Campaign Outlines Results of Election 2002 for Gun Violence Prevention".
In their press release, they say: "Candidates who made gun violence prevention a campaign issue were victorious..."
REALITY CHECK...
The Bradys put lots of money and energy behind Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's bid for governor of Maryland. Thinking that one or two fools with a rifle taking sniper shots meant all the sheep would follow the gun control campers over a cliff, the Bradys pulled out all stops and campaigned hard for Townsend. And Kathy took their advice, idiotically bleating about more gun control in Maryland, where gun control has been proven a dismal failure -- and got her butt kicked by the man who said it's time to review gun laws for their effectiveness or lack thereof.
If that's Brady's idea of a victory, we wish them all the success in the world come next election cycle. |

Wilmington liberals will try to implement a gun-registration even though Delaware's constitution explicitly forbids local municipalities from making any laws infringing on gun ownership rights. "The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) claims its organizational mission is to 'expose and combat the purveyors of hatred in our midst.' However, some conservatives say they are offended by the ADL's deliberate efforts to equate the right wing with hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and Nazi Low Riders."
"The ADL maintains an extensive database of information on a broad range of 'dangerous extremists' and closely monitors the nationwide activities of the predominantly anti-Semitic, white supremacist organizations. The group's website also features a calendar of "Upcoming Extremist Events" in order to alert concerned citizens across the country of hate gatherings occurring in their cities and towns."
