"Once Holder is gone, so will go any chance for political gain, plus Republicans know they’d be painted as bullies in some corners and racists in others if they dared go after him (some have been doing that all along). It just wouldn’t be worth it to them, especially since a reinvigorated Obama is confident that should the trail get too close he retains the pardon option, knowing the media and constituency that returned him to power would back him to the hilt." ... |

"As if the onerous fees and rigorous requirements set forth by the City of Chicago to exercise one’s civil right to own most types of firearms for personal defense aren’t enough, the Superintendent of Police has declared a long list of affordable firearms 'unsafe' and prohibited them from being lawfully owned in the City of Chicago."
"Today’s bans on affordable handguns have their roots in the old 'Army and Navy laws' from the post-Civil War south. These laws were first passed in the 1870s ... to effectively keep the poor, recently freed slaves from firearm ownership. The law barred the sale of handguns except the 'Army and Navy' guns which were both expensive and typically already owned by white, former Confederate soldiers." ... |

Both companies have had financial troubles in the recent past, and while Izhevsk pulled through them back in 2009, Izhmash was declared bankrupt and is currently being run by the state."

The armory is specialized in churning out huge numbers of rifles, and needs to re-tool to cost-effectively produce for current market realities.
