Ohio lawmakers could vote as soon as next week to relax current gun laws by waiving training and permit requirements to carry concealed guns. If passed into law, House Bill 227 would make a concealed weapons permit optional, including the mandatory eight hours of training, and eliminate the current requirement that people promptly notify police officers they are carrying a concealed weapon. The primary sponsor of the bill is Republican lawmaker, Rep. Tom Brinkman of Mt. Lookout. |

A group of Boise students is drafting legislation to require licensing for minors to purchase firearms, hoping to win bipartisan support for the gun control measure in one of the most conservative states in the nation. The students, all members of the board of Idaho’s March for Our Lives, which advocates for “sensible gun violence prevention policies,” hope the measure will help prevent suicides, school shootings and other forms of gun violence by slowing the process that minors use to buy a gun, the Idaho Statesman reported Monday. The group hopes to prevent students in the midst of mental health crises from easily access firearms. |

In early 2020, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his so-called “assault weapon” ban along with a temporary amnesty period that allows the owners of newly-banned firearms to possess their property without incurring criminal liability. Canadians affected by these Orders-in-Council were advised they would have the option of “complying through grandfathering” or surrendering the gun for compensation (“buyback”) before the expiry of the amnesty, with the specific information to be “announced later, once details have been decided.” Canada’s gun owners are still waiting for answers. |

This week I’ll be covering a rifle I had never run into before until several weeks ago during an event in Texas that was made possible by Crimson Trace and ATN Corp. During our trip out to Texas, we had the chance to do a lot of great shooting – rimfire shooting included. I had a chance to test out several of my rimfire review guns including the new H&K MP5 pistol and rifle, and I even had a chance to run some sweet ATN and Crimson Trace optics on my personally owned Ruger Precision Rimfire. |

I’m too excited to sleep. I’ve spent most of the night packing, and now that that’s finished, I just lie in bed, awake, staring at the ceiling and running through the contents of every bag in my mind. Did I pack the grouse loads or just pheasant ammo? Did I purchase the magazine plug for my 12-gauge for the duck hunt? Do I have the right Allen key to adjust my bow? Should I pack a .22 in case we go after squirrels? Have I pinned enough elk hunting spot |

Not long ago I bought a nickel-plated S&W Model 1-½ with mother-of-pearl grips whose former elegance couldn’t be dulled by time. The biggest problem? It was chambered in an obsolete caliber — .32 Rimfire. I knew several companies offer rimfire reloading kits and components but the pandemic made them impossible to find. I decided to find another way. In my quest, I met resourceful individuals Dennis Heckman, Alan Tyznik and Jack Harrison. They’re .32 Rimfire aficionados and all developed ways to overcome the lack of tools and materials to reload their favorite round. |

With a smaller pellet diameter than all other sizes of buckshot, #2 shot grants you a larger number of pellets per shot. But even though #2 shot is a versatile ammo choice, it isn’t ideal for use when hunting deer, moose, bear or other large game. Most use steel shot for hunting waterfowl and predator control.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has sent a letter to Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan asking him to negotiate a gun reciprocity agreement between his state and West Virginia. Currently, Maryland and West Virginia do not share a reciprocity agreement with regard to concealed handgun licenses. This means that if a Mountain State resident travels through or to Maryland while carrying a gun for self-defense, that resident is breaking Maryland law.

In April 2020, Jon Ferns opened Gr8 Guns in Sugar Land because he said he “hated the gun industry.” According to Ferns, most gun dealers have predatory practices, and he wanted to change that. “My objective here is ... to educate people and get them the right things for the right price,” he said. Ferns, a retired U.S. Army sergeant, said Gr8 Guns is not his main income but a way for him to arm residents without taking advantage of them. |

The Biden administration is using the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to collect and store millions of gun owners’ records that could be used to swiftly carry out President Joe Biden’s anti-Second Amendment wishes, The Washington Free Beacon reported.
According to the documents obtained by the Free Beacon, Biden’s ATF collected 54.7 million out-of-business paper records and 887,000 electronic records detailing gun transactions and other private firearm information in the 2021 fiscal year alone. These records are reportedly kept in a federal warehouse managed by the ATF in West Virginia.

As legacy press outlets have lost much of their ability to manipulate public opinion, these institutions have resorted to increasingly desperate tactics to shape public discourse. Enter tattletale “journalism.” This genre of article consists of identifying something that offends the delicate sensibilities of the prestige press and the elites they cater to and then reporting the offensive conduct to various authorities under the guise of asking them for comment. The transparent goal of such pieces is to pressure those in authority to stamp out the behavior. This sometimes takes the form of a “journalist” alerting one of the tech oligopolies to material hosted on their platform that the reporter deems politically incorrect.

It seems like we will continue writing pieces on David Chipman—Joe Biden’s failed nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)—on a regular basis. Not because we like to gloat (although that can be fun), but because Chipman keeps making public statements that further emphasize he was always supremely unqualified for the position as the nation’s top regulator of the firearms industry and most federal gun laws. |
