... "What I observe anecdotally is that in urban environments, especially among my black fellow citizens, is a lack of a lawful gun culture. ..."
"The culture of lawful gun owners has a robust set of mores about how to handle a firearm (including air guns and such), when it is appropriate to use and display a gun, and the consequences of breaking those mores. For instance, while I am not required by law to tell the cops I am carrying during a traffic stop, I always do, keeping my hands firmly on the steering wheel. I’d rather the cop hear it from me in peaceful, dulcet tones that I have a heater than to discover it during a frisk and then have him wonder why I did not tell him." ... |

"Here at TTAG, we love shooting steel. Some TTAG writers have the luxury of owning rural property where they can simply leave their targets. Others, myself included, live in suburbia, and can only shoot at gun clubs or out on public lands (BLM, National Forest lands, etc.). So we need steel targets that are portable. Fortunately, Grizzly Targets of Tampa Florida has the answer: a set of stands and targets they call the 'Build Your Own Range' (BYOR) System. "FNH USA is way late to the AR party. The FN-15 rifle was introduced earlier this year, well past the peak of the AR fever of 2013. You’d think the company responsible for manufacturing the military version of the M16A4 (and a large percentage of U.S. military rifles) would quickly tool-up to crank out civilian versions of the rifle. But that’s not the way FN rolls . . ."

... "It would be easy for Eastwood to produce a feature that is a straight-up homage to ’80s-era patriotism – and it plays like that on the surface – but American Sniper is overall a tense and sad account of the brief life of the most accomplished marksman in American military, Chris Kyle. The film follows Eastwood’s own Flags of Our Fathers and Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker in examining the reasons men enlist and go to war, then followed by the lingering effects when returning home. Bradley Cooper, picking up a Texas twang to go with a beefier physique, plays Chris Kyle ...
