With each passing day, I’m beginning to feel fresh again, like a rotten stench washed from my clothing and a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
The reality of the 2016 campaign having ended is just now beginning to sink into my soul.
My sentence is over. I feel as though I had been in some time warp prison, staring out the cellblock windows, waiting for my eight-year stint to end. Suddenly my cell door opens, and I glance down at the hand-carved, primitive calendar I have etched into the walls with my fingernails. It’s really over. “You’re going home,” I’m told. I’m being escorted to a room to pick up my belongings. |

How are rights lost? As a rule, the answer is, “In much the same manner as they are won.” Rarely do free societies abandon their liberties in a swoop. Instead, they let them go over time—slowly, subtly, even imperceptibly. Whatever the movies might imply, it is complacency—not shock—that marks the disintegration of once-cherished freedoms. With exquisite precision, the walls are dismantled piece by piece, so that by the time the final brick is removed, there is little surprise to accompany the milestone. |

We’re running out of time!
We need calls NOW to pass SB199 to allow employees to keep guns in their cars at work! The Chamber of Commerce is fighting us. We could lose this if we don’t show legislators this is what the people want!
SB199 is an important bill that would allow active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces to carry a handgun without a license AND an amendment to this bill would allow employees to store a gun in their vehicle while in the parking lot at work without threat of losing their job. |

Post-election fears, again, are driving gun purchases – this time less by those worried about losing their gun rights than losing their lives.
Since Donald Trump’s win last month, hate crimes nationwide have surged, and so has the number of people of color buying guns for protection. According to an NBC News report, some gun store owners have seen a four-fold increase in minorities inquiring about and purchasing firearms in recent weeks. Earl Curtis, an African-American and owner of Blue Ridge Arsenal in Virginia, told a reporter many people of color believe “ racists now feel like they can attack ... just because ‘Trump’ is doing it.” |

In an interview with Canadian leadership candidate, Andrew Scheer discusses his policy stance on gun rights in Canada.
“My friends took me hunting two years ago, first time I had ever been out, I used a friends Lapua .308 and got a white tail from about 400-450 meters away – I was hooked. I have my license, I own a few firearms already – I really look forward to experiencing incredible things like this with my son now.” -Andrew Scheer |

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is sending President-elect Donald Trump a Christmas wish list filled with pro-Second Amendment policies that would make it easier for gun owners to carry concealed weapons.
Just one month ago, the NRA was bracing for battle with a Clinton administration.
Now, the gun lobby is looking to tighten its grip in Washington with Trump taking the reins in the White House and Republicans maintaining control of Congress. |

We have been celebrating what the election of Donald Trump means for the Second Amendment for about a month now. Well, folks, the gun-grabbers have regrouped, and have come up with a new way to go after our Second Amendment rights.
The New York Times was fawning over these announcements, many from high-powered law firms who charge $1,000 an hour for their services. The Brady Center is happy, with Avery Gardner, their top lawyer telling the Times, “With this new coalition, our bench just got deeper.” Also joining this anti-Second Amendment crusade is the Brennan Center for Justice out of New York University. |

The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) applauds the Ohio General Assembly for its overwhelming support of legislation that expands the rights of concealed carry permit holders in the Buckeye state.
“Crimes can happen anywhere, at any time. Gun free zones don’t deter criminals, they create victims," said Amy Hunter, Ohio spokesperson, NRA-ILA. "This important piece of legislation will make people safer. If enacted, concealed carry permit holders will be able to exercise their rights in places where they are currently left defenseless. Additionally, this bill awards military members – who are already among America’s most trusted citizens – more freedom to employ their Second Amendment freedoms.” |

KING 5 in Seattle talked to Paula, a domestic violence survivor whose ex-boyfriend tried do just that. He failed a background check because of a protection order a judge signed two decades ago. |

Government statistics significantly understate the number of children in the U.S. who were killed by unintentional gun discharges last year.
The Associated Press and USA TODAY Network found 141 deaths of minors were attributed to unintentional or accidental shootings in 2015. That’s 83 per cent higher than the 77 deaths that the Centers for Disease Control reported Thursday.
...
CDC officials say their statistics are low because they rely on death certificates. Some coroners list deaths in which one child unintentionally shoots another as homicides. The AP and USA TODAY Network relied on determinations made by investigating agencies. |

I am not, however, comfortable around Florida legislators — because they don't have a healthy respect for firearms, basic safety or even common sense.
They have proposed guns in schools, guns in airports — even bills making it easier for Floridians to shoot each other without getting convicted.
If brains were ammo, these guys would be firing blanks.
Yet they are again gearing up to treat the next legislative session like a fight at the OK Corral. |

John Glenn has passed away at the age of 95. The Marine pilot, astronaut and senator died Thursday afternoon at Wexler Medical Center in Columbus, OH, surrounded by family.
The man was unquestionably an American hero, having flown a total of 149 combat missions in World War II and the Korean War. He literally put his life on the line for this country uncounted times, deserving our gratitude for a debt we can never pay back. |
