"Your attention too and activism with Gun Owners of America has made a world of difference over the past several months."
"The past couple of years were supposed to be the worst on record, as far as gun rights are concerned. With the election of Barack Hussein Obama, Americans went rushing to gun stores and generated a buying spree that created shortages of firearms and ammunition around the country." ... |

"St. Louis, as home to the St. Louis VA Medical Center, plays an important role in caring for our wounded warriors, who have sacrificed so much in our nation's service. Awareness has steadily grown of the fact that not all war wounds are physical in nature. American service members have been fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq for most of a decade now, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) afflicts an enormous number of these brave men and women, with the VA treating over 140,000 new PTSD sufferers last year." ... |

"The following article was written by Ben Kurata, Senior Staff Instructor at Texas’ International Training, Inc. ..."
"Recently, a transit Officer was convicted of homicide after he shot an individual to death while attempting to control the subject’s behavior. According to the Officer’s testimony, he thought he was reaching for his Taser but discharged his duty firearm instead, killing the subject. Now, I am not here to pass judgment on the Officer’s actions, as I was not there. But for some time, I have recommended that Tasers be mounted on the duty belt on the non-dominant side, with the grip pointed backward, NOT in a cross-draw position. Why? Well . . ." ... |

"'Practical shooting is a sport that evolved from experimentation with handguns used for self-defense.' That’s the official line from the USPSA website. It cleverly avoids the question: 'Is USPSA competition applicable to real world self-defense?' As the rabbi will tell you, no, it isn’t Oh sure, the competition helps you become a better shooter. It increases your ability to shoot under pressure. It’s a lot of fun. But it does NOT teach you the tactical skills you need to survive in a real world gunfight. Joe Huffman’s video illustrates that point . . ." ... |

"After seeing all the ads on CBS referencing the Second Amendment and this week’s episode of The Defenders, I watched the new series for the first time – and was pleasantly surprised." ... -------
Submitter's Note: And if Paul Helmke thinks "they handled the Second Amendment gun rights vs. gun regulation discussion even-handedly" you know it was skewed. What struck me was the prosecutor in his opening statement and the ATF agent on the stand both stated that serial numbers are necessary to catch criminals, but the defense failed to ask the (to me) obvious question: How many criminals have been caught using serial numbers vs. how many people have gone to prison or been run out of business because of clerical errors involving those serial numbers? |

"Merry Insert Your Choice of PC Holiday Greeting Here! ‘Tis the season for gunmakers to clear their warehouses of thousands of low-priced, non-firearms line extensions that should have been gimmes, but aren’t. From branded hats to branded bags to branded hats. Fortunately for their cash flow, there may be a gun or two under the tree or near the menorah. (Especially near my menorah.) I want to buy my gun pals gun gifts, but most of them suck. So here’s my list of gun-oriented Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza presents that I wish they’d sell. But don’t. For some reason . . ." ... |

"An editorial in sltrib.com gets all wimpy about the proposal to name John Moses Browning’s 1911 as Utah’s state gun, despite being the birthplace of the world’s greatest firearms designer. 'Naming a state gun is problematic because a gun is, after all, a killing tool. It’s not like honoring the state flower, state bird, or even the state dinosaur, which happens to be a rather nasty carnivore. A gun necessarily carries the connotation of violent death, not the sort of thing Utah would want to appear to celebrate.' You see what happened there? The editorial writer knew the state’s dinosaur, the Utahraptor, eviscerated his argument. And yet he plowed on in that don’t confuse-me-with-logic way that anti-gunners do. ..." ... |

... "President Barack Obama’s selection on November 17, 2010, of Andrew 'Andy' Traver, a career ATF agent, to lead the agency was greeted with hostility from the gun-rights lobby. Gaining confirmation of the nomination in the Senate is expected to be a challenge. In fact, prior to 2005, the ATF director did not require Senate confirmation. Republicans blocked President George W. Bush’s nominee, Michael Sullivan, claiming he was not sufficiently sensitive to gun dealers. Since then, the bureau has been run by acting directors, who do not need to be confirmed." ... |

"A Sunset Hills police officer pleads guilty to driving drunk and crashing into a car full of college graduate students killing four of them. Prosecutors say now 42-year-old Christine Miller was more than two times over the legal limit when the horrible crash took place in March of last year." ...
"Four students died and one was critically hurt. At an earlier court date, Miller was in a wheelchair. But on Thursday, she walked on her own into the courtroom. She entered a blind plea. This means there was no deal with prosecutors but rather Miller is leaving it up to the judge to sentence her." ... |

... "In the 'Constitution state,' however, no doubt exists as to our state's framers' intention. Since 1818, our constitution [Article First, § 15] has contained the provision: 'Every citizen has the right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state.' (emphasis added). The McDonald majority cited several state constitutions (including Connecticut's) to buttress its conclusion that the Second Amendment, although itself silent as to this purpose, was understood at the time to include the right to bear arms for self-defense. Thus our state’s history and constitution assisted the majority in McDonald in expanding the Second Amendment's reach to the states." ... |
