Christopher Wilson had a loaded pistol in his waistband when the Maui Police Department in 2017 responded to a complaint that he was trespassing on private property. Wilson did not, though, have a permit to carry that gun. And in a case that put a spotlight on Hawaii's strict gun regulations, as well as on its low rate of gun deaths, his challenge to the permit requirement made its way to the Supreme Court − which, in recent years, has embraced a looser approach to guns. |

As critiques from news commentators and political analysts about what went wrong with Kamala Harris’ campaign subside, one clear fact emerged from the election – candidates who champion the rights of law-abiding gun owners and support the Second Amendment were swept into office. These victories, achieved despite the Harris/Walz ticket trying to confuse voters with blatant falsehoods about their records and extreme views on gun rights, did not happen by accident. They were achieved, at least in part, in response to a broad backlash against soft-on-crime policies and assaults on the rights of peaceable citizens. |

Democratic lawmakers have taken the first step in allowing local governments to ban the open carry of firearms within their publicly owned buildings.
The legislation was reported to the state House on Wednesday, Dec. 11, after a vote along party lines in the House Judiciary Committee with all Democrats in favor and all Republicans opposed.
Bill sponsor State Rep. Carol Glanville, D-Walker, said the legislation would allow counties, cities, townships and villages to create ordinances that ban people from openly carrying a firearm within buildings owned and leased by local governments. It wouldn’t allow local governments to ban concealed carry. |

In the midst of the drama about the arrest of murder suspect Luigi Mangione, the establishment media is all in on its reporting about the pistol allegedly used in the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, but is their reportage going overboard?
According to New York Mayor Eric Adams, quoted by Axios, so-called “ghost guns” are “extremely dangerous and we must do more on the federal level to clamp down on the availability of ghost guns.” |

When it comes to long range shooting, two calibers that cannot be ignored are the 6.5 Creedmoor and the venerable 308 Winchester. Although the 308 Winchester (7.62 NATO) has been a staple in the long-range target shooting community since its inception over 60 years ago, the 6.5 Creedmoor simply outperforms the 308 Winchester in almost every category when shooting out past 500 yards. |

I remember the first Family Christmas I had after I got my shiny, new Gen 3 Glock 17. Like many new gun owners, I needed some fresh full metal jacket (FMJ) ammo to feed my new beloved Austrian self-defense dynamo.
At our Family Christmas, we draw names to see who buys a gift for who with a $50 price limit. The only item on my list was some Winchester white box 9mm ammo, as it was well below statutes of Christmas limitations. |

Gun prohibition lobbying groups on both sides of the Columbia River are mounting a new offensive to ratchet down on Second Amendment rights, launching efforts to—as noted by the Washington State Standard— “make it tougher and more expensive to buy a firearm.”
Because legislatures in both Oregon and Washington are dominated by Democrats, who have become the “party of gun prohibition,” according to critics, the gun control movement sees opportunities in both states to achieve their goal. Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek and incoming Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson—also both Democrats—are gun control proponents. |

Today with many people from America hunting Africa it is worth examining what cartridges and guns are appropriate. For most of the antelope and non-dangerous plains game a military rifle cartridge which is cheap and plentiful has always been standard. These are the calibers that the professional hunters used to feed their safaris in days gone by. Whether it be a 7MM or 8MM Mauser, a .303 British, or a .30-06 they all get the job done efficiently. Cheaper ammunition means more affordable practice and you can never get enough practice. Additionally, full power military rifle cartridges were designed to have the most recoil that an average soldier could fire 100 rounds a day without flinching. |

A last-ditch effort to pass legislation that would block local and state police from both enforcing and helping to enforce federal gun restrictions failed in the Ohio House Wednesday following hours of behind-closed-door deliberations among its Republican supermajority.
The Ohio House voted 56-to-35 to table a proposed amendment that would have folded in the Second Amendment Preservation Act, or SAPA — a piece of legislation that had stalled in the House for nearly a year due to a lack of support — into a separate gun-related measure that had majority support. |

In the moments before Luigi Mangione allegedly killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, the suspect’s pistol jammed. In the time it took for the suspected killer to clear his chamber and put a round downrange, an armed would-be victim could have returned fire and ended the threat to his or her life. Unfortunately for Thompson, he was in New York City, which has some of the most stringent and unconstitutional gun laws in the country. |
