A few days ago, David Lawson's family home burned down in Colville, Washington. David escaped the fire, but regrettably there were fatalities in the family.

KABA readers will remember him as a gun rights hero. While living in Chicago, he was one of the plaintiffs in the Second Amendment Foundation's McDonald lawsuit that incorporated the Second Amendment as against the states.

David Lawson hails from Colville, as I do, which I thought was a neat coincidence when we worked together on the McDonald case.

Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were justified in shooting to death a man who fired on them after shooting a bus passenger, District Attorney Andrew Murray said in a report Monday. The officers acted in self-defense in shooting Rodney Rodriguez Smith, 18, five times in an exchange of gunfire, Murray said in a report to police Chief Kerr Putney.

A 39-year-old Athens man was apparently stabbed to death Sunday night during a domestic dispute at his home on Norwood Lane. No one was charged as of Monday afternoon for the death of Antonio L. Wilkerson, who Athens-Clarke County police said was possibly stabbed by a family member who acted in self-defense.

Both sides want to see gun deaths continue to decline, but they are diametrically opposed when it comes to methodology. The Left generally believes that laws limiting gun ownership and carrying rights will curtail gun deaths. The Right supports the Second Amendment and believes that an armed community is a safe community, and that the criminal element will not give up their guns leaving Americans defenseless.

Prosecutors say Jerry Jones should not be charged for shooting and killing a man who broke into his house. But they have charged Jones, a convicted felon, for possessing a gun in the first place. Jones, 44, was at his home in the 3200 block of N. 16th St. about 11 p.m. Nov. 25 when he heard someone trying to break in through a window, according to authorities.

The legal duel between Attorney General Mark Brnovich and the City of Tucson over guns is more complicated than is being depicted.
