There’s a lot to be learned behind a trigger, and for young shooters marksmanship is just a side benefit. It’s a shame those who oppose the Second Amendment will never sit and watch youngsters at an air gun match, and talk to them later about what’s going through their mind as they steady the gun, get a good sight picture, control their breathing . . . and press. I’ve covered quite a few air gun championships through the years, and had the pleasure of interviewing several world-class shooters.

Why You Should Return the (wrong) Gun You Got for Christmas

Christmas is coming. Our friends mean well, but lots of Christmas gifts don’t fit. I have several sweaters that are the wrong color and wrong size. Like a sweater, your firearm has to fit you, so don’t be shy about returning the firearm you received for Christmas if it isn’t the right one for you. A firearm is as personal as a pair of shoes. Finding the right pair is hard to do. We can be partially to blame.

People often give us the gun they wish we needed, rather than the gun that best fits our needs today. We do that to ourselves as well. We tell ourselves we’ll grow into that pistol.. someday. Fortunately, there are enough choices out there that we can probably find something what suits us today.

Where should we start?

As the child of a firearms collector tagging along to gun shows and shooting ranges in the 1980s and 90s, I soaked up a lot of lessons that never appeared in my schoolbooks. I learned, among other things, that the Trilateral Commission and the Bilderbergs controlled George H.W. Bush's administration to advance the New World Order; that David Koresh and Randy Weaver were patriots martyred by the fascist Janet Reno's jackbooted government thugs; and that a race war was definitely coming to America—the only real question was which side the government would be on.

How is it that a certain group of politicians think that making guns illegal will reduce gun deaths? They somehow believe that people who willingly rob homes and shoot people will suddenly start obeying the law. Do they really think that the bad guys will figure the gig is up and turn their guns in? Yes, the law abiding citizens might do so, and where will that leave them? As far as I know, heroin is illegal. How is that working out?

The Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence hosted a town hall meeting Tuesday in Newark to review the state’s gun violence legislation that has passed in the last couple of years. Sen. Bryan Townsend, Rep. Paul Baumbach, Rep. John Kowalko and Rep. Ed Osienski appeared before an "encouraging" group of locals at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark to discuss the 2017 legislative season and the “common sense” gun violence legislation that has passed since the tragedy of Sandy Hook, which was the catalyst for the coalition's formation, said Liane Sorenson, chair of the Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence Educational Fund.

Smith & Wesson, the 164-year old maker of pistols and rifles, will vote today to change its corporate name to American Outdoor Brands. The company said the new name makes more sense as it expands into other businesses—last month, for example, it acquired UST Brands, a camping and survival gear company. The company’s guns will continue to be sold under the Smith & Wesson brand.

It looks like campus carry is going to get new life, at least according to Speaker David Ralston. Last legislative session, Gov. Nathan Deal vetoed just a few bills of the hundreds the legislature passed, the campus carry measure among them. This earned him quite a bit of ire from conservatives and gun advocates at the time, and now it’s being reported that Speaker David Ralston is looking to revive the measure.

Many anti-gunners in the so-called “mainstream” media would have Americans believe that gun sales have immediately gone into the tank with the election of Donald Trump as president. And they are finding themselves proven wrong—over and over again. It’s likely true that had Hillary Clinton won the election, gun sales would have spiked even more, just as they have risen greatly under anti-gun President Barack Obama. But President-elect Trump’s surprise victory certainly hasn’t resulted in a slowdown at the retail level so far.

Georgia’s state representatives are getting ready for the 2017 Legislative Session at the State Capitol. Many of our local reps met with city leaders on Tuesday about Savannah’s top priorities and concerns this year. The city has had a lot of issues, but city council members managed to narrow them down to a list of just six items. This list includes addressing the on-going blight issues, dramatic increases to commercial property taxes, improving transparency with the Pardons and Parole Board, ID cards for parolees, reinstating the law that allows law enforcement agencies to destroy weapons and drainage improvements.

Not all Christians are staunch supporters of the Second Amendment, while not all priests are blessed with sensibility. In the breaking news blue state of Oregon, Reverend Jeremy Lucas used $3,000 in Parish funds to put himself in pole position for winning charity raffle for an AR-15 and unfortunately, the edge in fueling idealism.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. — Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787. Taken from Jefferson, On Democracy p. 20, S. Padover ed., 1939
