"I submit that the ninth circuit court buys into that form of government we shall refer to here as "mob rule" which tramples individual inalienable rights. That is, the judges on the ninth circuit court are collectivists, who see their judicial "solutions" only in terms of the collective. Well, the Nazis operated on the basis of "public health" too, in the same manner these judges on the ninth circuit court have ruled that the right to keep and bear arms is only a collective right "owned" by the state, which they believe should maintain a monopoly on the use of force. Their ruling makes the state supreme, not the individual and it turns our form of jurisprudence on it's head." |

"...defenders say, it's a useful tool for prosecutors, noting it takes the profit out of crime. Its use is measured in dollars, with the state totaling $24,762,802.42 in seized property from 1998 to 2000. Included in that is $894,154.03 from Atlantic County, $233,574.27 from Cape May County, $353,845.60 from Cumberland County and $631,211.72 from Ocean County."
"But this week's decision, even if it survives appeal, doesn't necessarily mean those numbers will go down. It just orders that legislators find a different way to distribute the money..." ... |

"The local coroner quickly determines that the shooting was entirely accidental, and says there's no reason to arrest or confine Frank Page, and there, as far as The Record is concerned, the story ends. For our reporters, it's all too common a story. They get news of accidental shootings, suicides, and the like on at least a weekly basis. After a while, such things get taken for granted as a fact of life, and our writers would probably tell their descendants in 2002 that these incidents, tragic though they may be, are more a product of human nature than a result of the existence of firearms." |

The program is run by the Boy Scouts of America, and the teens take part in camping adventures, winter survival and ski trips. Today, they learned gun safety and also came away with a greater respect for law enforcement. Students also learn leadership they can use for life." |

"If the Supreme Court were so inclined, it could easily render a strong individual-rights interpretation of the Second Amendment. There is a mountain of impressive scholarship supporting that view, some of it produced by mainstream and even liberal constitutional law theorists. A decision — especially a unanimous one — recognizing that the Second Amendment protects individuals, not states, would change the whole nature of the gun-control debate by paving the way for a national registry that makes ballistic fingerprinting, comprehensive licensing and other forms of regulation possible to implement and enforce."
------- USA Today provides a primer for gun control zealots on how to reassure gun owners that their rights are secure while sneakily ramming more controls down their throats. A spoonful of sugar... |
