Lansing lawmakers are looking at a series of bills that restrict firearms, with emphasis on bump stocks and ghost guns.
Rick Ector from the group Legally Armed in Detroit, is not so sure more laws which he says impact regular citizens - and not criminals, is the answer.
"Putting more gun laws to restrict and impair the rights of ordinary law-abiding citizens who’ve done nothing wrong, if it’s a non-solution - it doesn’t solve anything," he said.
Pastor Barry Randolph of the Church of the Messiah Detroit disagrees.
"We’re not talking about taking away people‘s right to bear arms," he said. "We’re just talking about taking away people‘s right to commit murder." |

Maine gun control proponents are pushing for a ban on so-called “ghost guns,” but a report at WGME News in Portland suggests anti-gunners actually are not certain why they think such firearms—built from parts and kits—are more dangerous than stolen or illicitly-acquired commercially-produced firearms in the hands of criminals.

Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI) is calling for “action now” against the type of firearms that Democrats refer to as “ghost guns.”
Such firearms are typically made from a parts kit–often an 80 percent kit–but some of the parts can be and sometimes are made on a 3D printer. Assembling such firearms requires considerable familiarity with the gun in view, as well as repeated visits to the gunsmith to get the firearm to a place where it operates dependably. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
