No type of gun law will keep wicked people from committing evil

People all over town are talking about what happened in Aurora, Colorado.

No one will truly ever know the why for sure, except that it was pure evil.

Some people say that evil is an abstract thing, that it is not real. Some people say, well he that this wrong as a child or this happened in his life, or there wasn’t a program to help him or they were just misunderstood.

Some people say we can just reason with killers, or that we can talk it out, or others say we did something wrong – not the killers.

The only thing we did wrong was being alive and/or thinking differently from them.

For this they will kill you, your family and your friends.

Because evil has no compassion. It lusts to kill, to destroy, to end.

NY: New bipartisan coalition running the state Senate faces major issue next week stemming from the Sandy Hook massacre

The new bipartisan coalition running the state Senate could face its first major test next week in the wake of the Connecticut school shooting. The five breakaway Democrats who will work with the Republicans to jointly run the chamber next year will be under intense pressure from the Democratic conference to push through some kind of gun control measure — an issue the governor has said would be a priority next year. But Republicans — who will have equal say on what legislation makes it to the floor for a vote — have long blocked such measures, maintaining New York already has some of the strictest gun laws on the books.

Gun Violence: It's Not Just the NRA or Presidential Leadership -- It's Us

Every time a horrific national tragedy occurs involving the killing of school children or adults by the use of guns, the National Rifle Association immediately becomes the national whipping boy and the source for causation blame. Repeated finger pointing of responsibility at the NRA for its fierce defense of individual gun ownership relieves others in our country from their own responsibility for participating in, or enabling, the promotion of gun ownership and use in our society.

While a still-stunned community tried to cope with the horror of Friday's school shooting which killed more than two dozen people, federal agents planned to fan out to dozens of gun stores and shooting ranges across Connecticut, chasing leads they hoped would cast light on the life of school shooter Adam Lanza.
Among the questions: Why did his mother, a well-to-do suburban divorcee, keep a cache of high-power weapons in the house? What experience did Lanza have with those guns?
And, above all, what set him on a path to shoot and kill 20 children, along with the adults who tried to stop him?

Two Lloydminster, Alberta residents are facing charges related to the smuggling of prohibited firearm parts and weapons after allegedly purchasing prohibited items in the United States and attempting to have them shipped to their home address in Canada.

A parcel containing a canister of pepper spray, a stun gun, eight 30-round over-capacity rifle magazines, one 20-round over-capacity rifle magazine, two 15-round pistol magazines and two 33-round pistol magazines was intercepted at the Vancouver International Mail Centre on August 16.

Following a criminal investigation the Canada Border Services Agency laid multiple Customs Act charges in relation to the incident.

A veteran Democratic lawmaker believes the nation will go along with stronger gun control laws if President Obama “exploits” the Newtown, Conn., tragedy and nudges Congress to action.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents portions of New York City, said he was encouraged by Mr. Obama’s statement on Friday afternoon that the mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 young children, requires “meaningful action” by Congress, but hopes those words turn into concrete legislation.

The headline I pray we all see the next time some idiot tries to kill a classroom full of children should read, "Hero teacher saves the lives of all her students by shooting gunman dead." The body of the story would go on to say that town police, state police and SWAT teams arrived 5-10 minutes later.

Why is it craven individuals dance in the blood of victims each time there is a horrific crime committed?

It’s not a liberal vs. conservative issue. It’s about decency.

There’s nothing decent in using the blood of small children to advance one’s cause. In fact, it’s repugnant.

A Congressman says we must “exploit” the deaths of these children to pass more gun control. Has this man no decency?

Mayor Bloomberg tells us we must “take immediate action” to restrict gun rights. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, in advocating for sweeping gun bans said, “We have to make sure that our laws protect students.” Father Pfleger, one of the shrillest voices for gun control in Chicago, crassly used the massacre as an opportunity...

A bunch of people have pointed me to this Portland TV station’s story about the Clackamas Town Center shooting in Oregon. On December 11, Jacob Tyler Roberts killed two people at the mall and wounded a third. Nick Meli, who had a concealed carry license, was apparently at the mall, took out his gun, aimed at Roberts, but didn’t shoot because there was someone running across the field of fire. Meli then took cover, and Roberts shot and killed himself.

CT: Newtown school shooter’s mother collected guns, was loath to let people inside home

Adam Lanza lived among guns.
His mother, Nancy, collected them. She showed them off to her landscaper.
“Guns were her hobby,” said Dan Holmes, the landscaper of Nancy Lanza’s sprawling yard here on the edge of town. “She told me she liked the single-mindedness of shooting.”
Holmes said she even spoke of taking her son to the firing range to practice his aim.
As details of her son’s troubled life trickled out Saturday, the day after he gunned down 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School and his mother at their home, the portrait emerging is one of a detached killer who knew his way around a trigger and of a family that feared outsiders in the home.

The children in this school are safer from crazy people than any other school in the nation. And you don't have to be 30 minutes from the nearest police station for this to work. It's a combination deterrent and self defense measure. The families, friends and victims of mass killings can tell you a thing about 1st responders. They never arrive fast enough.

Nick Meli.....The 22-year-old was at Clackamas Town Center....when a masked man opened fire.

...break in gunfire allowed Meli to pull out his own gun, but he never took his eyes off the shooter.

"As I was going down to pull, I saw someone in the back of the Charlotte move, and I knew if I fired and missed, I could hit them," he said......"I'm not beating myself up cause I didn't shoot him," said Meli. "I know after he saw me, I think the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself."

A Post-Newtown Guide to the Gun Control Policy Debate

The Newtown, Conn., elementary school massacre has reignited the debate about gun control. Firearm skeptics demand new restrictions. Gun proponents insist on respect for Second Amendment rights. Like abortion, guns evoke irreconcilable political and cultural cleavages. We live in a big country. Our conflicting values cannot all be neatly squared.
Still, rational discussion could lead to better understanding, mutual respect across ideological lines, and even some majority-backed changes. Slogans and symbolism contribute little. In that spirit, let’s review some of the proposals politicians and others will talk about in coming weeks.

If some idiots want to blame the Second Amendment for the recent killings, go ahead. But if you do, you will also have to blame the First Amendment, which allows freedom of the press and which has just as much to do with these events. If citizens’ rights to bear arms is in question here, then so is the right to a free press. Are we really willing to give up our freedoms that easily? Wouldn’t it make more sense to figure out how and when to treat the mentally ill so that murder isn’t an option?

A Connecticut official says the mother of the gunman in the Connecticut massacre was shot four times in the head before her son went to the elementary school where he gunned down 26 people.
The official says she was found in her bed wearing pajamas. It's not clear what time she was shot to death. The official was not authorized to disclose details of the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The official also says Adam Lanza killed himself with a single bullet to the head from a 10 mm gun, and the bullet was recovered in a classroom wall.
The shooting is the largest mass shooting of school-age children in U.S. history.

McCarthy (D-N.Y.), the foremost gun control advocate in Congress, said she spoke with White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew before Election Day and told him she will exert pressure on the White House to push for gun control legislation.

In the wake of Friday's mass killing at an elementary school in Connecticut, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Sunday that she plans to introduce an assault weapons ban bill on the first day of the new Congress.
"I'm going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House -- a bill to ban assault weapons," Feinstein said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
The shocking murder of 26 children and adults in Newtown, Conn., on Friday has sparked a national discussion on gun control, with mostly Democratic legislators saying laws need to be tightened.

Louie Gohmert Says More Guns Are Answer To Preventing Mass Killings

In the wake of the mass killing that claimed 26 children and adults at a Connecticut elementary school Friday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) made the case Sunday that the answer to preventing massacres in the U.S. is for more Americans to carry guns.
"There has been great investigation and study into this," Gohmert told Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, arguing that mass killings happen where citizens tend to be unarmed. "They choose this place [because] they know no one will be armed."
Gohmert argued that the mass slaughter would have gone differently if Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochsprung had been armed.

Nancy Lanza loved guns, and often took her sons to one of the shooting ranges here in the suburbs northeast of New York City, where there is an active community of gun enthusiasts, her friends said. At a local bar, she sometimes talked about her gun collection.
It was one of her guns that was apparently used to take her life on Friday. Her killer was her son Adam Lanza, 20, who then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 26 more people, 20 of them small children, before shooting himself, the authorities said.

There is the sound of guns being fired in the early afternoon. The target area full of people at the Wooster Mountain Shooting Range in Danbury, Conn. The place is maybe 15 minutes from where 20 children were shot dead on Friday morning; the bodies of most of those children kept into the night at an elementary school that had become one of the most terrible crime scenes in American history.
Wooster Mountain is a state facility, open to the public, and the man who has run it for the past 19 years is Dean Price.

Friday's shooting tragedy at a Connecticut school has ignited debate on the issue of gun control. Twenty-seven people, including 20 children, were killed when a gunman opened fire inside a kindergarten class at Sandy Hook Elementary. The shooter has been identified as Adam Lanza, 20, the son of one of the victims, according to police. Some, like White House press secretary Jay Carney, said Friday "was not the day" to discuss gun control. Others disagree.

Ban the Second Amendment? Sure, If You Love Violence

Australia and Britain banned guns in 1997. Violent crime skyrocketed over the next 10 years. The leading crime category was rape of women. Meanwhile, rape has been declining here in America, where a law-abiding woman can buy a handgun in order to participate in her civil right of self-defense. British women get raped twice as often, and Australian women thrice as often, as American women.

So what gun banners want is to sacrifice women for the sake of feeling good that we did something about “gun violence.” Curious that those most stridently promoting civilian disarmament usually pretend that they care about women’s rights.
