During 1940, the war in North Africa began as a Mediterranean side show. By the time that Rommel’s forces threatened Egypt and the Suez Canal in July 1942, the desert war had become a crisis. The British victory at El Alamein, and the Anglo-American landings in Algeria a few months later, put an ever-tightening squeeze on the Afrika Korps. |

In November 2024, Colorado residents may vote on an initiative to allow marijuana users to obtain concealed carry permits. The proposal, spearheaded by the pro-gun rights group Guns for Everyone, is set for a preliminary review by Colorado’s Legislative Council Staff (LCS). Edgar Antillon, co-founder of the organization, argues for equal treatment of marijuana users, citing Colorado’s legalization of the substance over a decade ago. |

A new Rasmussen survey released Monday reveals that 60 percent of likely U.S. voters “believe the problem of bias in the news media is getting worse – up from 56% who said so in March.” This is not good for a profession which insists the news is delivered in an unbiased manner. The survey of 1,080 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on Dec. 11-13. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence, Rasmussen said. |

Congress heard directly from women on the need to empower women by protecting Second Amendment rights in a hearing at the U.S. House of Representatives. The hearing gave voice to women, including domestic violence survivors, of how gun control measures often make it more burdensome for women to protect themselves, even as gun control proponents continue to tell these same women that the government and police will protect them.

The 12 gauge shotgun is considered by many as one of the most versatile firearms for both big game hunting and self-defense. A shotgun’s stopping power is unmatched, and it offers homeowners, hunters, and law enforcement an incredibly potent platform for both long and close-range engagements.
However, many shooters question what type of shotgun shells to load into their home defense shotgun? Buckshot or slugs?

Our alert last week described a recent NBC News article on rising gun ownership in America, which cited national polling numbers showing that “[m]ore than half of American voters – 52% – say they or someone in their household owns a gun.” This represents “the highest share of voters who say that they or someone in their household owns a gun in the history of the NBC News poll, on a question dating back to 1999.” The actual gun owner numbers are likely to be still higher, given that most people are unwilling to discuss their personal details with complete strangers. |

In October of 2013, I wrote an article for Shooting Illustrated about how it was women themselves who knew which gun is best for them, and that maybe a pink-handled, snub-nosed revolver in .38 Spl. wasn’t the right choice for many women. That article turned out to be the most popular article on this website for 2013 and was shared countless times all over the internet. The idea that women would prefer to carry and shoot small micro 9mm pistols, DA/SA carry guns and even a full-size 1911 in .45 ACP resonated with women gun owners, and I received message after message thanking me for helping to break down the stereotype of what was a “good gun for a woman.” |

The genius of John Moses Browning is universally understood among those in the gun world. In the related business world, it was the genius of one T. G. Bennett at Winchester and his decision to buy basically every patent Browning came up with (for a total of 44 guns in 17 years) made the company the powerhouse that it was in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Garden State has finally used its new gun industry liability law. That could be the law’s undoing.
As Contributing Writer Jake Fogleman explains below, the thing that saved the law in federal court was the fact it hadn’t actually been used before. I guess we’ll get to see if that appeals court panel was genuine when it used that reasoning to dismiss the earlier case against the law… |

On Friday, December 15th, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers issued a formal opinion that the gun-free zone executive orders in Omaha and Lincoln are illegal for outdoor facilities. He deemed that “municipalities lack the authority to regulate the possession of firearms and certain weapons in quintessential public spaces, such as parks, trails, and sidewalks…” and that attempting to do so is an infringement on both the Second Amendment and the Nebraska State Constitution. |
