"Dear Tom,"

"I've read your anti-firearm sermons for some years now, wherein you faithfully regurgitate the Brady Bunch's advocacy of citizen disarmament. Because of this, I understand the futility of arguing the point with you."

"But since we have now passed through the looking glass with an anti-firearm president and a supportive absolute majority in Congress, where the old political verities no longer apply and you no longer have the NRA and GOP to protect you, let me explain the new rules of the game. As you say, 'the NRA is losing its power.' This should worry you." ...

"Prags vs. IIIpers, or,

French Army vs. French Foreign Legion?
"

"Pull yourselves out of your comfortable paradigm as a Devout Gun Rights Activist and ponder this:"

"'If you were an opposing force, would you behave differently if you faced the French Army than you would facing the French Foreign Legion?"

"Remember, the French Army suffers the dishonor of being reputed to surrender at nearly every opportunity. ..." ...

"... these types, the IIIpers, The Legions, live by a different creed. Perhaps it is best summarized by the leader of the small band that won such fame in Mexico so long ago. When the commander of the vastly superior Mexican force demanded the surrender of the Legion's small band, their commander Captain Danjou simply replied:"

"'We have munitions. We will not surrender.'" ...

"Every time some anti-gunner proposes a new gun control measure, they always want to call it a 'common sense' measure. As if anyone who didn't see things their way was stupid. 'How can you oppose this? It's common sense!,' they claim. "With a single week left until Christmas, a lot of us are still scrambling to find a gift for that person who already has everything. Chances are, the person who already has everything has an interest in keeping their stuff safe, and one way to do that is give that special someone in your life a firearm."

"A lot of Christmas gifts end up as bothersome clutter, such as goofy trinkets or unread books. A gift certificate is a good sign that you don’t know much about the person, but aren’t quite thoughtless enough to just send cash. But with a gun you can give that person a new hobby, an ongoing lesson in responsibility, peace of mind, and make the world a better place." ...

As we were getting ready to go to work, a promo came on ABC. At first, I thought it would be a new "patriotic" movie. Then, as the 30-second spot went on, and it showed various "heroes" (cops and other enforcers of state commands), I realized that ABC did really plan to run a show about Homeland Security. I fully expect the show to be a shill for the feds.

Here's the preview for it, the same one I just saw.

When we were visiting Guatemala a number of years ago, there were machine-gun-armed government soldiers guarding our motel, the post office, etc., etc. As with the TSA jack-boots, the purpose of a military deployment throughout society will be to remind us of the disparity of power the state holds over us; to reinforce the mindset that it can mess with us - and even destroy us - anytime it chooses to do so."
