The Federal FireStick is pretty cool, and if you’re a gun person and don’t know about it, you should. It’s a plastic capsule containing propellant, and it’s meant to be used in muzzleloading rifles. And if you think about it, it represents a natural progression from the pelletized propellants which have dominated the muzzleloading market in recent decades. |

Bill Ruger apparently always looked back into history to find inspiration for many of his projects. In 1958, probably after studying the Remington .31 cap-n-ball pocket pistol, Bill did the same thing as he had done with the Single-Six. He brought out an up-to-date .22 version and called it — this also came from history, cars not guns this time — the “Bearcat” after the Stutz Bearcat automobile. It was fitting such a beautiful car would lend its name to Ruger’s second .22 revolver. |

For those who love big bore revolvers, the .454 Casull (pronounced like KA-sool) is often a favorite. Longer than the .45 Long Colt and much more powerful, this ammunition spent more than half of its life as a popular wildcat, not becoming a standard, factory round until it’d been in the handloader arena for over 40 years. |

The Taurus G3 was the start of a new lineup. A duty-sized pistol, it was just the item you needed for a daily holster-carry sidearm. But those who prefer a more-compact version are now all set with the G3c. The Taurus G3c subcompact pistol has all the features of its bigger brother, with the smaller size an everyday carrier needs. |

The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action and the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, which is NRA’s affiliate in New Jersey, filed a lawsuit today against the state of New Jersey for a restrictive law that essentially denies law-abiding gun owners the right to a concealed carry permit. “It’s outrageous that law-abiding people are being denied their right to self-defense by arbitrary means,” said Amy Hunter, spokeswoman for the NRA. “Statistics show that self-defense situations come up quickly and without warning. Time and time again, we hear stories about good people who have saved lives because they were carrying a firearm. |

On Wednesday, the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee will consider No Duty to Retreat Legislation, Senate Bill 383. Please contact committee members and ask that they SUPPORT Senate Bill 383. Senate Bill 383 strengthens Ohio’s self-defense laws by stating that individuals have no duty to retreat from a place that they are lawfully present before using force in defense of themselves or others. Previously the law only applied to residences and vehicles, however SB 383 expands that to allow for law-abiding gun owners to be able to defend themselves without being required to retreat from any place they are allowed to be.

Some local police are refusing to process firearms licenses amid the surge in COVID-19 infections, according to gun rights groups, which are pushing to temporarily ease requirements during the pandemic. While there's no statewide data available, gun rights groups say some communities have all but stopped fingerprinting applicants for new and renewed licenses, as required by state law. That's created a logjam of requests that aren't being processed, they say. |
