"'Thank you for reading the NRA column and for your comments. A quick aside: I believe the 2nd Amendment refers to a right to bear arms -- not a right to bear every firearm, of whatever purpose or power, that someone can come up with and market.' -- Tom Teepen"

His books with Larry Niven were always great and my favorite was Lucifer's Hammer, about what happens when a comet strikes the earth. My favorite character in that book is Dr. Dan Forrester, a meek and mild ex-astrophysicist from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory who saves the day when the Stronghold is attacked by a cannibal army."

"Powerful new handguns called 'big boomers' by the gun industry are a growing threat to the nation’s law enforcement officers, a new 36-page study released today by the [VPC] reveals. ... Body armor used by police has been able to stop handgun rounds and saved thousands of lives over the last three decades, the study states, but standard body armor cannot stop rifle rounds. "First: Most of what James Farmer wrote was published thoughout the United States many times over the last several years. "A North Carolina gun retailer is hoping to capitalize on fears in North Whitehall over a recent crime wave."
"Charlotte-based Hyatt Guns announced Thursday that it will give township residents a 15 percent discount on new firearms purchased through its Web site. The store made a similar offer earlier this month to residents of St. Louis after a city alderman urged his constituents to buy guns in response to a spate of murders. But this is the first time Hyatt is making such an offer to a small town, said spokesman Robert Ross."
