Imagine that you are enjoying a meal in a restaurant. At a nearby table, another customer is unhappy with their dinner. His voice grows louder as he angrily berates the waitress over the slow service and the fact that he asked for mustard, not mayonnaise. You look over at the commotion and see that he has a gun in a holster strapped to his hip. |

German gun club lobbyists were invited to the German Interior Ministry (BMI) last week to discuss something that has been bothering them for a while - the European Commission's proposed plans to tighten Europe's gun laws, which were suddenly revived from legislative stagnation in the wake of the "Islamic State" attacks in Paris in November. |

"As barbaric jihadist attacks threaten the lives and safety of citizens, Santa Claus gives self-defense semiautomatic rifles to worthy Americans for Christmas," gun dean John M. Snyder noted here today.
"These days anti-gun politicians use murderous radical Islamist attacks like those in Paris, France and San Bernardino, California as a platform for demanding further restrictions on semiautomatic firearm purchases," Snyder noted.

On a recent afternoon Dr. Mohammad Shuayb, a Tampa-area dentist, brought a pistol to work with him for the first time.
Early that morning, his assistant had called him with a piece of ominous news: a woman called the office over the weekend and left an expletive-ridden rant decrying the doctor as a Muslim and claiming he was a supporter of ISIS. She called back and hung up several times after leaving the message. |

Sen. Rand Paul is pushing for a vote to restrict President Obama's ability to enact new gun control regulations.
The Kentucky Republican, who is running for president, has introduced legislation that would decree any executive action on gun control that either infringes upon congressional authority or potentially violates the Second Amendment as "advisory only" until legislation that supported the action is passed by Congress. |

As a lawyer, I have the deepest respect for the Second Amendment and an individual's right to bear arms. But as I parent, I feel strongly about my right to keep my children out of situations where firearms are present. This bright-line rule served me well, until last month when I learned that my parents and other extended family members had recently obtained handguns and concealed-carry permits. |

There was nothing subtle about the TV commercial in 2010.
As Gov. Ted Strickland held a hunting rifle, an announcer said that as a member of the U.S. House in 1994, Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich “voted to take away our gun rights — a major reason the National Rifle Association gave Strickland an A-plus rating.” |

I would’ve preferred to watch “Fargo,” a pitch-black comedy about bloodlusting knuckleheads, but instead I dutifully tuned in the Republicans, and I got the same kind of characters.
There was Ted Cruz, touting the awesomeness of carpet-bombing ISIS, apparently clueless about the fact that ISIS troops are embedded in the cities, amongst civilian adults and children. |

Buying a handgun is a very personal decision and there is no single "right gun" for women. Having said that, a lot of women get pushed toward the wrong gun by salesmen or others who wrongfully stereotype women as not being able to operate the slide on a semi-automatic and who have bought into the "all women should have a revolver" myth. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. — Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318, Foley, Ed., reissued 1967. |
