The women cradled AK-47s as if they were cradling their children. They never intended to be soldiers. They did not belong to the once U.S.-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). But, after years of turmoil in a northeastern enclave of Syria, most of the women in the region had learned to handle firearms with the same normalcy as they’d once learned to keep their homes immaculate and to cook Kurdish delights for their burgeoning families.

At least five people were killed and 33 others were wounded in Chicago shootings the weekend before Christmas in a sharp spike of gun violence compared to earlier this month. Shootings happened on blocks as far north as the Rogers Park neighborhood, as far south as the Fernwood neighborhood and as far west as the Austin neighborhood. No shootings were reported downtown or on the Near North Side. The most violent area was the Englewood district, which saw 15 people shot this weekend — nearly all from a single shooting incident. Ages of gunshot victims citywide ranged from a 15-year-old boy who was wounded to a 55-year-old man who was killed.

The standard SIG SAUER P320 is the basic platform the company used to enter the U.S. military trials to select a new pistol. As a result, the P320 was adopted by the government in 2017 as the M17, which tells us something about the excellence of the P320. There is no doubt the civilian version of the M17 will become extremely popular for two reasons — first is the fact military designs always spill over into the shooting public.

Zee Martín bought her first firearm — a shotgun — in the late 1970s after her home near Springfield, Missouri was burglarized. Over the years, she began buying more firearms, eventually collecting handguns and participating in gun competitions. In fact, that's how she met her second husband. Martín has been a member of the NRA for decades. A little over a year ago, she joined another group — the United States Concealed Carry Association. The West Bend, Wisconsin-based group offers a similar product as the NRA, but the message is very different.

A military veteran working as a clerk at a Bay Point market fatally shot an armed robbery suspect late Sunday night after being pistol-whipped in a violent attack caught on camera. Mark Kasprowicz was working behind the counter at Kam's Market around 11 p.m. when two masked suspects entered the business. One suspect went to the back of the market and held an employee at gunpoint while the other suspect — armed with a semi-automatic handgun — went behind the counter, pistol-whipped Kasprowicz and started pulling cash out of a register.

Almost every Democrat running for president supports so-called “gun buybacks.” Too bad they don't work. Proposals range from Joe Biden's voluntary gun buybacks to the more radical mandatory confiscation proposed by Cory Booker. (He still misleadingly calls it a “buyback.”) So it’s worth examining how such buybacks played out recently in New Zealand, which passed a ban on the sale of semiautomatic weapons and a mandatory gun buyback program after a tragic shooting in April.

When most Americans think of Slovenia…let me rephrase that: Were an American to think of Slovenia, the first thing likely to pop into their mind would be First Lady Melania Trump. And who could blame them? The former Yugoslav republic isn’t exactly a well-known country among Americans, and Mrs. Trump is by far its best-known native. While the Arex Rex Delta is unlikely to dethrone her from that perch, it might just be Slovenia’s second-best export.

A second New Jersey municipality has declared itself friendly to gun rights-- pushing back against increasingly strict gun control measures under Gov. Phil Murphy's administration. The New Jersey Herald reports Sussex Borough declared itself in a unanimously passed resolution last week to be "2nd Amendment/Lawful Gun Owner municipality" at the behest of Assemblyman Parker Space, who voted against a so-called "red flag" law that allows the state to temporarily confiscate guns from someone deemed a potential threat.

The 3.5 million residents of the Unites States’ largest territory will soon be able to better exercise their Second Amendment rights. On December 11, Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vazquez Garced signed the Puerto Rico Weapons Act of 2020. The legislation overhauled the territory’s gun laws in a manner that will make it easier for the island’s residents and visitors to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The legislation’s most important provisions pertain to the territory’s firearms licensing procedure. Prior to the enactment of the Weapons Act, Puerto Ricans could apply for a possession license, or a much harder to obtain carry license. The Weapons Act combines the two licenses into a single license.

This Politico article on how President Trump’s appointments have changed the composition of the Ninth Circuit presents example after example of how that court “has been the go-to venue for activist state attorneys eager to freeze Trump policies on health care, immigration, and other social issues.” That, of course, is consistent with the decades-long reputation that the Ninth Circuit has earned as a bastion of liberal judicial activism—of judges in the mold of the late Stephen Reinhardt who override democratic enactments in pursuit of their own vision of the good.

A plan is moving forward to make sure New Jersey law enforcement officers are able to tell the difference between real firearms and a toys. The New Jersey Assembly has passed a measure that prohibits the sale of toy guns and imitation firearms that appear to be genuine. To set toy guns apart from real guns, it requires them to be some color other than black, blue, silver, or aluminum. Toy guns would have to be marked with non-removable orange stripes. It also sets requirements for the size and shape of their barrels.

One of the broadest gun control measures signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom this year will prevent Californians from buying more than one semi-automatic rifle per month, and raise the minimum age to purchase a high-powered rifle to 21. The law, Senate Bill 61, builds on a previous restriction that prohibits Californians from buying more than one handgun within 30 days.

Any reticle that will subtend — or bracket — a known measure at a known yardage can put you on target at any distance, if you know the size of the target. However, for hunting, a reticle should be simple enough to use without thinking.

An ambitious grassroots effort to repeal a gun control initiative passed by Washington State voters in 2018 allegedly turned ugly over the weekend when one of the highest profile volunteer signature gatherers was apparently the victim of verbal attacks by two different men outside a major sporting goods outlet, when both of them made remarks that could be interpreted as threats.

Jane Milhans, a veteran rights activist, certified firearms instructor and president of the Tacoma Rifle & Revolver Club—who also is a home invasion survivor—told liberty Park Press one of the men actually asked her, “Do you want me to shoot your now, or later?”

Designed by an American, made in America, and created for the United States Armed Forces – nothing encompasses the American spirit of ammunition like the .45 Auto caliber and the gun it was made for.
