At a certain point in life, most people give at least a passing thought to the mark(s) they will leave on the world. While having one’s name attached to a place or institution may seem like a nice honor, the legacies we leave our families, friends and others whose lives we touch are the foci of most normal people.

If you think that the American media’s relentless attacks on the right to keep and bear arms represent a credible threat to the Second Amendment now, just wait until they come to realize that, instead of merely proselytizing against your rights, they can turn your support for them into a “thought crime.” |

The jolly old elf snuck into our house last night, somehow without alerting our always vigilant Labrador and waking the whole house. We probably need to work on that. Anyway, he left me a gun rest bag and a NeoMag, the better to pack an extra magazine on a an EDC basis. If you managed to make it onto his ‘Good’ list too, he probably left something gun-related at your house. |

Any gun owner who has considered selling a gun can tell you the pains of going to a gun store or pawn shop. I know I constantly tell myself (and others), “Guns are an investment,” but you might not think that when you get an offer from a pawn shop. So, why the cheap offers? Also, if guns are still worth something, how to I get the best offer? Let me see if I can answer some of those questions.

The upland hunter’s darling, the low-recoiling, light-carrying, 28-gauge shotgun may just be the finest of the sub-gauges. Yet, it languishes quietly in gun racks and media coverage alike. The times are a’changing, though, and the lowly 28 gauge is poised to see a major resurgence. Here’s why, and all you need to know about the 28.

| QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
| I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
