As much as America loves her guns, she has never liked the idea of seeing them in black hands. Before the Revolutionary War, colonial Virginia passed a law barring black people from owning firearms — an exercise in gun control as racial control. In 1857, in his notorious Dred Scott decision, Chief Justice Roger Taney summoned the specter of black people freely enjoying the right to “keep and carry arms wherever they went.” Surely, he argued, the founders were not “so forgetful or regardless of their own safety” to permit such a thing. When black people armed themselves against white supremacist attacks following the Civil War, Southern state governments passed “black codes” barring them from owning guns.

Walter Audisio was the principal figure of the Italian resistance movement in Milan and he operated under the nom de guerre “Colonel Valerio” for the sake of anonymity. On April 28, 1945 he left Milan with another communist partisan and drove north toward Lake Como. The day before, a column of German vehicles had been intercepted near the village of Dongo that included, among other high-ranking fascist leaders, none other than “Il Duce” himself: Benito Mussolini.

An early-morning burglary of a Bellevue, Washington gun store Tuesday has possibly put dozens of handguns on the street and underscored what gun rights activists might call a gaping loophole in the Evergreen State’s so-called “universal background check” law.
Criminals don’t obtain guns the way law-abiding citizens do. Instead, they steal guns, and it’s a problem not limited to the Pacific Northwest.
Earlier this month, thieves broke into a Phoenix, Arizona gun store and made off with more than two dozen guns. |

Honesty got the better of her when she advised the officer that her handgun was in her purse. |

2017 was a somewhat slow year when it came to Second Amendment issues, and while the year handed some victories to pro-gun groups, it also handed them several losses, with roadblocks all the way from Tallahassee to Washington, D.C. Pro-gun groups didn’t make much headway in passing pro-gun legislation, nor did they taste victory in the legal system, but the groups didn’t back down and have vowed to press forward to expand Second Amendment rights despite the setbacks seen this year.

“Shoot from the hip” and “stick to your guns” are two prevalent idioms that happen to have firearm terminology. However, one that’s especially fitting for Ceska zbrojovka Uhersky Brod (CZ) is “third time’s the charm.” Why? Unveiled in 2009, the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 was the third (hence the name, “Evolution [EVO] 3”) and best incarnation of the selective-fire, blowback-operated, Scorpion-series submachine guns that originated as the brainchild of Ing. Miroslav Rybar (and upward of 13 other designers): the Samopal vzor 61, better known as the Skorpion vz. 61. This led to the eventual introduction of the semi-automatic CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 pistol, designed for the civilian market in the U.S.

Three large U.S. cities filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the Department of Defense, arguing that many service members who are disqualified from gun ownership weren't reported to the national background check system. New York City, San Francisco and Philadelphia said in court papers that the military's broken system for relaying such information helped spur the massacre of 26 people inside a Texas church last month.

The Chicago police union has filed a complaint with the Illinois Labor Relations Board, insisting that new use-of-force rules instituted by the police department should have been negotiated with the union. New rules governing the use of stun guns were announced months after a broader set of use-of-force rules changes in May, and only after a Chicago Tribune exposé on the use of stun guns that pointed out the new rules did not prohibit cops from stunning fleeing individuals who posed no other threat.

We tested the entire spectrum of the Sig Sauer Elite Performance pistol ammunition in 2016 and found it to be very accurate and effective. The consistency of all loads was impressive in that we never experienced a “flyer”. That is not to say that it is not possible, but we didn't have a single flyer or misfire. In the early part of 2017, Sig began to introduce their Elite Performance rifle ammunition. We reload our ammunition for both hunting and competition shooting; however, as good as the Sig pistol ammo was, we could not resist contacting Shannon Jackson (Sig PR contact) and asking her to send us some of their new rounds.
