"The Second Amendment Foundation has joined the Calguns Foundation and three California citizens in a federal lawsuit against the California Department of Justice and Attorney General Kamala Harris, challenging the state's requirement that gun owners wait at least ten days before taking possession of an additional firearm."

"The case is known as Jeff Silvester et.al. v Kamala Harris, et.al."

"'We've joined in this lawsuit because it makes no sense for California to require a gun owner who already possesses a firearm from buying another one within a few days,' said SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. 'We recall what Dr. Martin Luther King said, that 'A right delayed is a right denied.'" ...

"Exceeds time it took Warren Commission to produce report on JFK murder" ...

"This leads to the questions of why it’s taking so long, and if the end result will be indicative of the self-serving stonewalling and foot-dragging the Department of Justice has exhibited throughout congressional investigations of 'Project Gunwalker.' As things stand, Holder has been able to play the OIG card every time a question he does not wish to answer comes up." ...

"For many years, the state has been attempting to disarm the citizenry. While not understood by the mainstream, the success of these efforts has far exceeded the imagination of most. Those who own guns, and live in remote areas, don’t fully grasp the problem, as they are somewhat insulated from the norm. But many, especially those who live in the cities and more populated areas, know that they are heavily restricted, and for the most part accept this condition of helplessness voluntarily." ...

"A front-page story in today's New York Times tries to stir up alarm about liberalized carry permit laws ... To illustrate the hazards of that policy, the Times cites crimes committed by permit holders in North Carolina. How many crimes? Excluding traffic offenses, the Times counts 2,400 over five years, of which 200 were felonies. ... By comparison, about 0.35 percent of all Americans are convicted of a felony each year--more than 20 times the rate among North Carolina permit holders. ..." ...

"This was a banner year for guns -- 2011 is set to smash the record for gun sales."

"The record for a single year was set just last year, when the FBI reported that 14,409,616 background checks were requested. In 2011 that figure will top 16 million. FBI spokesman Steve Fischer said just 1.3% of background checks result in denial of a weapon."

"With a week left in December, the FBI said the monthly record has already been broken, and that was only set last month when 1,534,414 background checks were requested from the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)." ...

"The Concealed Carry Reciprocity bill has passed committee in the House and is waiting to be brought to the full House. If it passes the House it will then go to the Senate for ratification, amendments, etc. If and when it passes the Senate, it will then go to Obama for his approval."

"Initial inclination is to presume Obama will veto it. If the bill reaches his desk before the election, don't be surprised if he signs it. Obama, if nothing else, is devious. OK, he's also arrogant, narcissistic, monarchical, obnoxious, self-righteous, pandering and eloquent. But he is also devious. Approval of the bill would be aimed to lull independents and conservatives into believing he has relaxed his position on gun control ..." ...

"On Black Friday, Academy Sports and Outdoors advertised a 'Taurus M640 Compact .40 Semiautomatic Pistol,' regularly $459.99 for $289.99. Being in the market for a .40, I looked up the M640 on the Taurus USA website and it wasn't listed. I did a search and found very few domestic reports about it, but did find that it was heavily discussed in Portuguese in the Brazilian blogs and websites, and it was also listed as a law enforcement restricted handgun on Taurus' Brazilian website. There were civilian versions listed as the PT 640, and the PT 640 Pro. Using Google Translate (don’t ya love technology?), I found out the M640 is widely used by Brazilian law enforcement agencies ... Always looking for a bargain…" ...

He was was utterly unsympathetic to my dress preferences. "One of my biggest gun accomplishments in 2011 was falling back in love with my AR. As some of our readers might remember, I received my AR as a gift in the summer of 2009 (thanks Mom!). After dumping about two mags worth of ammo down the barrel, I realized that I now had a really fancy gun that didn’t do anything I used a gun for. "After my less than stellar first take and subsequent return of the M30, Konus was nice enough to send me a replacement. My first impression whilst removing it from the box was that this one had even worse locking turrets. In fact, once locked, you can still wiggle the turret back and forth somewhat negating that whole 'locked' thing. I dutifully mounted in on my AR and took to the range. "After my results with the Black Hills ammo from my AR test, I thought it might be worth it to try some of their take on my favorite bullet, the 95 gr. Nosler. I’ve used this bullet to take a literal ton of deer meat in the last 10 years and I have yet to have an animal end up more than 25 yards from the point of impact. In most cases, they drop right on the spot. For years, I’ve shot the Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip with a lot of success. After shooting the Black Hills ammo in my AR, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to try their 95 gr. Nosler bullet. I picked up two boxes from Ammo to go for $25.95/20 rounds.
