The establishment of Second Amendment sanctuaries unofficially began in the state of Virginia, where a Democrat-controlled state government previously attempted to confiscate its citizens' guns, prompting multiple counties and cities to push back and assert they would impede and resist the state's attempts enforce unconstitutional gun laws against lawful citizens.
Taking a cue from Virginia, Second Amendment sanctuaries were quickly established in an astonishing number of counties and cities across the country. |

The killing of a 16-year-old boy at the Valley Mall in July has been deemed self defense.
Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Joe Brusic said he will not be pursuing charges against three juveniles who were questioned in the death of Davis Reyes Jr.
Davis was stabbed in the abdomen around 4:35 p.m. July 6 in an upstairs bathroom at the Macy’s store at the mall. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, Union Gap police said. |

If you are protecting your land or property by the use of deadly force, you can be protected by the law in the state of Texas, but firing warning shots to scare off someone could result in severe consequences.
For example, one San Antonio homeowner who told police he saw a man outside his backdoor in the overnight hours said he fired three warning shots to scare him off. San Antonio police said one of those warning shots ricocheted off the ground and hit the man in his shin.
Though the homeowner claims he was protecting his home, the investigation has been left open. |

We, as firearms owners, must accept the fact that our very way of life is in jeopardy. Every day billionaires, under the protection of the very thing that they vilify, spend millions to strip us of our God-given right to self-defense.
These billionaire politicians, with the help of the mainstream media, push a false narrative that we are safer if we are unarmed. They tell us we need to listen to the moms, while ignoring the millions of mothers who are gun owners. They say to us that we need to listen to the children while feeding them what to say. |

I have my various beliefs about how guns-in-America should be organized. But the whole issue is not at the top of my list. Dealing with the destabilization of the climate, and protecting our constitutional order are my main concerns. But I believe a lot of other issues have more bearing on the health and well-being of American society than the gun issue.
As I see it, those people for whom those “Second Amendment rights” are paramount are making a bigger deal of the guns issue than is called for.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam apologized for his medical school blackface stunt, but he will have much more to apologize for if he signs into law a bill that attacks Virginia citizens’ Second Amendment rights.
The measure is Senate Bill 16, which would ban “assault” firearms and certain firearm magazines. Since Democrats have seized control of Virginia’s General Assembly, they are likely to push hard for strict gun control laws. |

Last week, Harlan Fiscal Court passed a resolution declaring the county a "Second Amendment Sanctuary," meaning county commissioners declared their opposition to state and federal laws that would allegedly infringe upon people's right to own firearms.
An ordinance of similar nature is being debated in Marshall County and is expected to be voted on shortly after the beginning of the new year. That ordinance is already running into trouble in the community -- The Marshall County Tribune-Courier reported Tuesday that elected officials in Benton and Calvert City are considering seeking an injunction against the ordinance if it's passed.

"The latest legislation pre-filed for the upcoming 2020 session is proof. Democrat Delegate Lee Carter of Manassas sponsored HB 67, which would apply to any law enforcement official, noting that those who ‘willfully refuses to perform the duties of his employment’ will be terminated and ineligible for future law enforcement employment for another year,” the article says.
This describes what happens to striking law enforcement officers under current Virginia law, however, which would not change if HB 67 becomes law. |

Just over seven years since the worst school shooting in U.S. history and the push to prevent the next one continues. The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary that left 27 dead, including 20 children, and the many that followed continue to shake Americans, but efforts to stop school shootings remain controversial. One of those proposals, putting firepower in the hands of teachers, is a hotly disputed safety measure attempt.

The committee’s chairman, state Sen. Bill Coley (R-Hamilton) said amendments are likely. But he says there is agreement on some less controversial parts of the bill.
“Making sure people who are in a mental health crisis get help,” Coley said. “People who are inside a hospital receiving mental health crisis help don't need a gun with them. And I support making sure law enforcement has accurate information at every moment.”
Coley added it’s too early to tell whether the measures for gun removal and expanded background check will survive. |
