... "The thing about BB guns, though, is too many parents don't consider them 'real' guns. They are. They shoot projectiles that can penetrate the skin and, yes, can put an eye out. More powerful air rifles are capable of causing serious injury or death."

I told a good friend, who supports whatever President Bush chooses to do, about my signing a petition protesting our president's spying on American citizens without court review.
My friend told me he had no problems with this, and that he had written to the NSA saying they were welcome to listen to all of his phone calls. A word to the wise, to all similarly minded folks who are not worried about anything but Second Amendment rights: Be careful not to mention your firearm inventory in your phone calls, e-mails, or perhaps even in thought, word, or deed, or your guns will be on permanent record in Washington, DC.

... "While the first reaction of Canadian politicians is to blame the United States for the escalation of gun violence, there is anecdotal evidence that there are not many more guns coming into the city than there were a few years ago. What we are seeing is not more guns, but guns being used more; in brazen ways that were unheard of five or ten years ago. Where in the past gang members would use guns for self defense or to blow away someone who had ripped them off, they now shoot people who have 'dissed' them. And where shootings used to be carried out in secluded areas during the middle of the night, they are now taking place near daycare centres or schools, on public transit ... The guns aren’t the problem — the shooters are." ... |
