"Letís start with this: Americans have a natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Even if you could prove that this was a bad thing, not a good thing, itís a thing. A thing that isnít going away just because a man without morals murdered a couple of cops in New York City. So all those commentators using the Big Apple assassination to argue that civilian gun ownership is a bad thing, note: we shall not be moved. But more than that . . ."

"An armed society is a polite society. Itís true. If a significant number of law-abiding African-Americans were open carrying firearms Ė as is their right Ė the police would not mess with them as a matter of course. They would treat them with the politesse they deserve." ...

"I think that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution should be abolished, particularly the part that says, 'The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.'"

"Why I think so? Because most Americans believe that the Second Amendment gives them the right to keep and bear arms. That is not only untrue, but also gives them a false sense of security."

"Actually, the Second Amendment does not give you the right to keep and bear arms; it only recognizes that unalienable right. By the way, there is nothing in that recognition indicating that you have the right to carry only unconcealed arms. ..." ...

"Whatís wrong with this sentence: 'Deputy Chief Constable Derek Benson commissioned the review to check whether any firearms licence holders in Essex had been the perpetrator of domestic abuse, even if they had not been arrested, charged, or been found guilty of an offence.' No, itís not the spelling of license or offense. Itís the fact that DCC Benson has revoked [or forced the surrender of] 50 shotgun licenses from Essex natives without even a nod to due process. The eye-opening essexchronicle.co.uk story is a frightening cautionary tale for Californians and other Americans living under repressive gun control regimes. Check this out . . ." ...

Are Legally Armed Black Men being Targeted in Detroit?

"Are black people who legally carry guns discriminated against? There is anecdotal evidence to indicate that it happens, particularly in crime-ridden urban centers. Students and retired police friends and acquaintances have told me that when guns were found in the possession of black men, in most urban centers, three or more decades ago, the guns were confiscated, legal or not."

"That was before the concealed carry revolution, when only a few states issued concealed carry permits, and they were often issued only at the discretion of the police chief. Many of the gun control laws were designed specifically to disarm black men." ...

"Designed specifically for SIGís SB15 (also works with the new SBX) Pistol Stabilizing Brace, ODIN Worksí SB-PT offers more than any of the competing buffer tubes on the market. 'Length of pull' adjustment? Check. Locks in the orientation of the SB15? Check. Perfect diameter for the SB15? Naturally. I was excited to check it out, and now Iím happy to 'endorse' it . . ." ...

"Ruger is renowned for their extremely robust revolvers. By robust, I mean nearly indestructible. They make the kind of sidearm you would want to take on your next hunting tripÖeven if it happened to be to the Underworld to put one round in each of Cerberusís heads. The arch nemesis to Ruger is without question Smith & Wesson. What the Ruger offers in indestructibility and price, Smith and Wesson make up for in trigger refinement, weight reduction, and overall finish. But enough about those higher priced safety queens (see: trigger lock key). Weíre here to talk about a real American battle axe of a revolver, the Ruger SP101 . . ." ...

Calm Down, The ATF Hasnít Changed Its Mind on the Pistol Arm Brace

"The National Firearms Act is one of the worst pieces of legislation in the history of the world ever. And I donít just mean that in terms of infringing on our Second Amendment rights, I mean that grammatically as well. The law is as clear as mud, sometimes when it comes to relatively straightforward questions. Once again we seem to have run headlong into an issue that the NFA doesnít clearly spell out. In this case, the ATF appears to have told someone that using the pistol brace 'improperly' makes it an SBR. And while that is 100 percent true for that person, the ATF isnít 'reversing their decision.' The letter makes perfect sense, and itís fully consistent with past communications. Hereís why . . ." ...

"Do you own a GLOCK? A 1911? Well if you do, MechTech Systems of Kalispell, Montana has a C.C.U. for you. Thatís Carbine Conversion Unit and it does just that ó converts your pistol into a carbine with an ATF-legal 16″ barrel, a stock, and rail space for optics and accessories. It isnít a firearm, which means it can ship right to your door, all without changing the Federal classification of your handgun. Sounds great on paper, but does it actually work? . . ." ...

"I have a nasty habit. Well, quite a few, the truth be told, but one that pertains to firearms seems applicable here on TTAG. You see, I like matching pistols with rifles. M&P 15-22, and Smith & Wesson 22A. Henry lever gun in .22 Mag, Heritage SAA in the same loading. I even made a black powder .50 rifle kit build, and was driven to create a bitchiní little cap lock pistol to match. So you can probably foresee my dilemma when I was blessed enough to pick out a Remington R1, series 80 M1911 a few years back. I had openly lusted to buy a Thompson 'Tommy' gun for the carbine match, the all black military Commando style, but the starting prices are way out of my ballpark. Or, wife-allotted budget, as it were . . ." ...

"In the American marketplace, the subcompact handgun category is a crowded field. Every major manufacturer has at least one baby model available, and many have several for sale. ... These guns are considered the best all-around carry guns, and there is one that sets the gold standard: the GLOCK 26. It has what many people consider the best combination of weight, size, and capacity for the average concealed carrier, not to mention itís rock solid reliability and above average accuracy. But is it the best? Are there options out there that can give the baby GLOCK a run for itís money? As a matter of fact, there is oneÖthe Walther P99c AS . . ." ...

"I must admit, I was caught a bit by surprise when Winchesterís W Train & Defend ammo was named TTAGís Readers Choice for Best New Ammo of 2014. Not that I disagree, even though I cast my vote for Lehighís XPÖ but ó I donít know, it just seems like ó how can you vote on ammo when it hasnít been tested and proven to be worthy of the honor? "Families of the children killed in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting two years ago have filed a lawsuit. I hope they win. But my attention was drawn to a strange paragraph in a story about the lawsuit: 'Bill Sherlach, whose wife, Mary, was killed in the 2012 shooting, said he believes in the Second Amendment but ... that the gun industry needs to be held to 'standard business practices' when it comes to assuming the risk for producing, making and selling a product.'"

"The sentiment is unexceptionable, but I found myself wondering which Second Amendment he believes in: the one the First Congress wrote or the one advertised by the National Rifle Associationís propaganda. There is a difference." ...

... "The fate of the Second Amendment should have been sealed when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that past rulings by their predecessors were wrong, that in fact the amendment that provided for a "well regulated militia" really guaranteed every individual the right to own a gun. Wow. That is an interesting reading of the English language. What the Supremes have done is to not only warp the meaning and make it into twisted law, but to further prohibit states and local governments from declaring their places free of legal guns. The conservative court once again rules against the power of states, a principle that used to be associated with darn liberals who wanted to make sure everyone had the right to vote, for example ..." ...

"Christmas week brought sad news: the passing of retired Spokane police chief Terry Mangan, at age 76 after a long illness. ..."

"I was privileged to know the man. He was a copís cop. Iíve known many police chiefs who sit behind a mahogany desk wearing a gold-bedecked white uniform shirt, perhaps as a symbol of 'I donít have to go out and get dirty anymore,' and a little vestigial gun as a badge of office, if they wore a gun at all. Not Terry; every time I met him, he was wearing BDU pants, a polo shirt with the department logo, and on his hip, the same .40 caliber Glock 22 he issued to his officers." ...

"How Did the NYPD Killer Get His Hands on a Gun From Georgia? Because Our Laws Are Insane. Thatís the headline hovering above the newrepublic.com article on the gun Ismaaiyl Brinsley used to shoot his girlfriend and two New York City cops before saving taxpayers the cost of trial and incarceration. Writer Rebecca Leber asserts that 'weak federal laws and disparate state laws enable a black market where felons and domestic abusers can get their hands on guns,' and argues for federal universal background checks. "It appears that the young master Keontre Reese didnít read the papers. If he had, he might have seen Pastor Tom Vinyardís open letter criticizing the local police chief for advocating stricter gun laws. Maybe Reese couldnít read at all. Youíd think seeing a sign on a house stating, 'Nothing on this property is worth your life' would encourage him to select another target. "A Pennsylvania shopping mall was forced to close its doors Friday after hundreds of teenagers showed up and several fights broke out."

"It was an ugly, chaotic scene at the Monroeville mall friday night after swarms of teenage girls, kicked and punched other girls in rampant fights throughout the mall."

"Monroeville Mayor Greg Erosenko said, 'Disappointment is probably an understatement. We're in the holiday season... Just don't understand these young folks that were down there.'" ...

Submitter's Note: Well it's a good thing they ban guns (all weapons, actually)! Item 20 of the mall's code of conduct states: Carrying or displaying weapons of any kind except those carried by certified law enforcement officers .... But it looks like they ban fighting too (Item 2).

"Thousands of Washington Stateís citizens held a rally on Saturday, Dec. 13, to demonstrate their Second Amendment rights despite a controversial new gun law. An estimated 4,000 civilian gun owners rallied at their stateís capital city of Olympia to show their opposition to Initiative 594, the latest gun control law which is one of the most restrictive in the nation. Critics say itís just one step closer to the leftís ultimate goal: disarming all American citizens." ...
