A new Rasmussen poll showing Joe Biden has lost ground among likely U.S. voters for his handling of crime and law enforcement issues helps explain the continued interest in private gun ownership, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
According to Rasmussen’s survey, 51 percent of likely voters give Biden a poor rating for his ability to handle rising crime. Back in July, 48 percent of poll respondents gave the president bad marks on this subject. Rasmussen revealed 77 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of Independents rate the president’s handling of crime and law enforcement issues to be poor. |

If you are looking for a great cartridge for your next hunting rifle, then you need not look further than the 308 Winchester and the 7mm-08 Remington. One was forged for battle, and the other was designed with long range shooting in mind.
Is one cartridge superior to the other? When it comes to this caliber comparison, we are essentially splitting hairs between these two rifle cartridges. |

When it comes to casting bullets and handloading, versatility is my favorite word. Being versatile means something can fill-in, or be substituted for, several different purposes rather than being specialized for a specific task. We all love powders filling this niche for several different calibers, right? Unique comes to mind here, performing well in cartridges from the .32s to the large .500s. |

Heading into 2022, there is speculation Georgia could join the ranks of “constitutional carry” states, but it may take some doing.
According to WXIA News, “Backers of expanded gun rights are hopeful an election-year legislature will eliminate the need for permits to carry a concealed weapon…Eliminating the requirement for a permit to carry a concealed weapon has been floated repeatedly at the capitol over the years. 2022 could be the year Republican lawmakers actually get it done.” |

The U.S. Supreme Court, knows that the driving mechanism of the right of the people to keep and bear arms rests on the assumption, taken as axiomatic, self-evident true, that the right is grounded on the natural, fundamental right of armed self-defense that itself is inextricably bound to the basic right of self-preservation and personal selfhood, i.e., personal autonomy. The right exists inherently in each person as an individual Soul, as the Divine Creator intended. |

One of the biggest obstacles that Second Amendment supporters face when wanting to repeal the legislation that anti-Second Amendment extremists have passed is the inevitable question, “If we repeal [this anti-Second Amendment policy], what’s your alternative?” The three words, “what’s your alternative” are an opportunity that gets blown all too often.

One of my neighbors has a bumper sticker: “The 2nd Amendment isn’t for hunting.” He’s correct as a matter of constitutional law—the Bill of Rights affirms the right to private gun ownership and, in effect, creates a form of distributed sovereignty that prevents the state from having a monopoly on force. In case after case, the Supreme Court has struck down attempts to limit this right, and seems poised to further expand gun rights next year. But pretending gun ownership is a privilege granted by government cedes too much ground. The right must unapologetically embrace the substance of the left’s complaint that the 2nd Amendment endorses violence as pillar of American politics.

It’s true that they don’t make stuff like they used to. But even if they did, there are some tried-and-true classics—like Dad’s pocketknife or that lucky bass plug—that we would keep right on using anyway. We asked our best writers to pick their go-to vintage outdoor gear, stuff they still use on the water or in the field or marsh despite their being modern alternatives. Here are the 14 items they chose, and why these classics remain such favorites.

Many of the 12 cities that experienced record levels of violence in 2021 moved over the past two years to cut police funding, overhaul law enforcement policies, or put fewer people behind bars. The sweeping changes that city leaders across America pursued came at a time of intense scrutiny of law enforcement after a white Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd, a black man, during an arrest attempt in May 2020. |

Addy Oghakpor and Zack Viator highly recommend that you get into shooting competitions like Red Oktober. They traveled from their home in Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete in the Red Oktober Kalashnikov Championship on Oct. 23 - 24, 2021. Prior to competing in Kalash-style competitions, Viator had competed in a three-gun competition. “I did three gun once. The people there are a lot more serious. It’s like a job. And here, I’m here to have fun, and if I win I win, and if I don’t I don’t. And that’s fine,” he said.

Regulations governing crossbows in Britain are receiving renewed attention after a man was apprehended with one on the grounds of Windsor Castle, where members of the royal family had gathered for the Christmas holiday.
Under existing legislation, crossbows can be purchased over the counter or on the internet by those over the age of 18. Owners do not need a license or certificate to operate the weapons and, unlike shotguns and firearms, the police do not have an official record of who owns them and how many are in circulation.
Submitter's note: More panty wetting from the formally great Britain. |

I’d forgotten what hanging elk meat smelled like, but within seconds of the sharp aroma from the walk-in cooler hitting my nose, I was flooded with memories. I remembered standing in an old potato cellar, smelling the aging meat of a bull elk my dad had killed. It must have been nearly 30 years ago, but I instantly recognized the smell. |

Many states permit hunters to carry a handgun for self-defense. It’s not so important for rifle hunters, because in most outdoor situations a rifle is as good or better for self-defense than any handgun. However, things happen while hunting, and for archery hunters a potent self-defense handgun is not a bad idea. You might need it to fend off a rabid critter. You could surprise a grizzly, black bear, or mountain lion. And if you happen to stumble onto one of a growing number of illicit public-land marijuana fields, you’ll probably be glad to have it.

Let’s face it! Although we try, there are times when you just can’t carry your gun. Whether it’s because you’re traveling to a state that doesn’t have reciprocity with your carry permit or you’re going someplace where carrying is forbidden, you still need to be safe and protect yourself. I’ve taken a look at some common tools you can have on your person for those times when you simply can’t carry your gun. As with carrying a firearm, it’s important to know your state and local laws before putting anything on your person and walking out the door.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? — Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
