The president also announced on Thursday the expansion of a federal program that helps U.S. cities crack down on illegal gun trafficking by tracking down the source of guns used in crimes. Twelve cities, including Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Austin, Texas, have agreed to join 38 others already participating in the program, the White House said. |

With the arrest of Brian Shelton on Friday, northwest Oklahoma City motorists have one less road hazard to fear, police said. Shelton, 22, of Piedmont was arrested on multiple (50+) complaints of assault with a dangerous weapon. Police believe he was responsible for shooting out the windows of dozens of moving vehicles in northwest Oklahoma City.
The weapon is thought to be a BB gun or pellet gun.
The shooting spree began over Thanksgiving weekend... ~~~ What a JERK! |

Federal agents are more likely to come across gun-toting kids in Chicago than in most other major cities when they investigate the ownership of firearms used in crimes.
About 15 percent of the gun traces in Chicago last year involved juveniles 17 and younger, according to a report released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol and Tobacco. The national average was 9 percent.
"Chicago has four of the five largest street gangs in the nation here," ATF spokesman Tom Ahern said. |
