If you don’t succeed, try and try again. At least that is the mantra Chicago Alderman Pat Dowell employs in dealing with the sweeping epidemic of gun heists from railyards in the city.
Urged by Norfolk Southern railroad officials (coerced with cash?) to keep quiet and prevent a massive and thorough investigation into lackluster and incompetent security protocol ultimately leading to the theft of firearms, the public servant decided to do what was in the best interest of all, and turned the other cheek.

French film company EuropaCorp succeeded in creating the leftist fairytale of every liberal’s dream in the new film “Miss Sloane” (in theaters everywhere Dec. 9), a political drama about a veteran Capitol Hill lobbyist who takes on the right-wing gun lobby.
Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain plays Elizabeth Sloane, the glamorous yet stone-cold feminist anti-hero who works endless hours, pops stimulant pills to stay awake, and hires male escorts to help her forget how miserable and lonely her life is. But for her, it’s all worth it. “Lobbying is about foresight,” Sloane tells us, and she will do anything – including breaking the law – to win. Because justice knows no limits. |

In an early indication the Trudeau government won’t shy away from weighing in on the Conservative leadership race, Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu is slamming Conservative candidate Kellie Leitch for her proposal to legalize the possession of pepper spray and mace so that women can better protect themselves from violence.
On Thursday, Leitch, a former minister in Hajdu’s portfolio, vowed to amend the Criminal Code to make it legal to carry mace or pepper spray to “better empower Canadians to defend themselves from criminal acts.” |

Gun stores will not be prohibited in Bloomington, but zoning changes within the city will both increase and reduce the areas available for proprietors to peddle their wares.
The Bloomington City Council voted 6-1 in favor of a City Code amendment that increases the total area where gun-related businesses could operate, but at the same time reduces the areas where dedicated firearms businesses may set up shop. |

On Thursday, California’s Fifth District Court of Appeals revived a lawsuit against California’s micro-stamping requirement by observing that the requirement cannot be enforced if the technology to micro-stamp does not exist.
Breitbart News previously reported that micro-stamping is a type of ballistic fingerprinting that leftists and gun control groups have long dreamed of mandating. A gun with micro-stamping technology theoretically makes a mark on a bullet casing, and when said casing is left behind at a crime scene, police will hypothetically find it, see the markings, and trace the gun to its owner — that is, if micro-stamping is possible. |

It's not as if Florida is in desperate need of more laws that let people carry guns in more places.
But that's what we're seeing in the opening volley of bills for the legislative session that begins in March. Why? Because certain gun-loving legislators believe the biggest issues facing Floridians are the restrictions on where people can carry guns.
So look for bills with shorthand names like airport carry, campus carry, open carry and even lawmaker carry. |

The Lincoln County Sheriff's office said it has seen an increase in gun sales over the years and expects demand to be high for the holidays.
"We usually see an uptick during the holiday season," said Chief Deputy Roland Kramer at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. |

NRATV’s Dana Loesch, Cam Edwards and Grant Stinchfield are standing up for American gun owners who are fed up with lectures from anti-Second Amendment elitists like Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh. You can join them by telling @LEVIS that law-abiding firearm owners #DontDie4Denim.
“Since Levi’s has decided to hop into the culture war, I’ve decided to hop out of my Levi’s,” said Edwards in response to an open letter from Bergh to his customers, in which he requested they do not bring their firearms into Levi’s stores. “As long as Levi’s decides that they’re going to lecture others on how and when they should defend themselves, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.” |

Second, as the USA Today editorial pointed out, veterans’ access to guns remains problematic. Here, however, the VA’s efforts have been stymied by gun-rights supporters. The VA recognized this in 2009, and in partnership with the National Shooting Sports Association, began a project to provide gun locks to veterans at no cost. Within 18 months, it had distributed 242,100 locks. The intent of the program was to provide an additional barrier that a veteran would have to overcome in a moment of crisis, with the thinking that in the time it took to unlock, reassemble, and load the gun, he might reconsider his decision. |

If a bill passes through the state legislature next year and is signed by the governor, Texas will become the 12th state to restore the carrying of a weapon to the status of a right, not a privilege given at the will of the government.
Days ago, Texas state representative Jonathan Stickland filed a bill to be debated in the 2017 legislative session that would remove the current requirement of having a permit to carry a handgun.
The bill, the Texas Constitutional Carry Act (HB 375), would protect the right — right, not permission — of a person (who is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm) to conceal and carry that firearm in public. |

When I want to learn about firearms in the United States, I do what anyone on the editorial board of the Los Angeles Times would do: I turn to an androgynous philosophy professor at a tiny art school in Maryland who has probably never seen a gun in person. This “expert” Firmin DeBrabander, PhD, hysterically insists that no one really owns guns, that they’re wildly unpopular, and that just 3% of Americans own half of them. |

The State of California would require firearms manufacturers to use technology that doesn’t exist in order to satisfy a totalitarian fantasy. The industry fired back with a lawsuit challenging the impossibility of complying with the law, which was dismissed by a flaky California judge. A wiser appellate court capable of understanding that laws can’t make fantasy become reality is now reversing that dismissal, according to a press release from the NSSF. |

But in 2016, the U.S. is seeing gun sales blow through the record highs set in 2015. Through November of this year, the FBI has processed 24,767,514 background checks — 160,000 more than last year and there’s still a month to go. So, what’s responsible for the surge? Or rather, who’s responsible?
That’s simple: Americans can thank Hillary Clinton. With her long record of pushing for continually increased anti-Second Amendment “reasonable gun-control” measures, many Americans took her threats seriously and prepared for what many thought was to be her inevitable victory. |

Every year tens of millions of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen work with NRA to advance pro-gun reforms and defeat attacks on our fundamental right to keep and bear arms. This past year, the challenges and opportunities were significant at the state level, including a continuing threat from Michael Bloomberg and his affiliated gun control groups in state capitals.
We faced Bloomberg’s falsehoods and a biased news media that was all too willing to perpetuate his agenda. Bloomberg’s contempt for gun owners has only grown stronger, but examples of our success at the state level confirm that despite his relentless propaganda, the majority of Americans continue to support the Second Amendment and our God-given right to self-defense. |
