In response, the city council of Kennesaw, GA unanimously passed a city ordinance in 1982 requiring heads of households to own at least one firearm with ammunition. An instructor with the New York City Police Academy pled guilty today to manslaughter charges in connection to the death of his fiancée last year.
Alexis Chaparro now faces 10 years in prison when sentenced on January 7th.
Prosecutors say Chaparro shot Sonia Garcia in the couple's Long Island home in September of last year. Garcia was also a member of the NYPD.
Chaparro, who had originally plead not guilty, had said he had been awakened from a sound sleep, by what he thought was a burglar. -------
